Default Android navigation with offline maps

I am sorry if this is a duplicate,
I tried during the last days to read through a lot of threads, but are mostly confused

I am changing my old Symbian nokia to an android Phone
II would like to have a product semilar to Garmin XT on my android phone,
With a posibility to Off line maps - when not in my own country (avoid high date communication bills)

can someone share with me their experience and what application to get ?

Some note I found reading threads:
Google maps: very limited in downloading maps and not overlapping maps
Not very good for travel to different areas
Navigon: seems to have old - not updated maps (1 year old highways not updated)

Sygic using TOm Tom maps: May be the best solution (but not sure)

    Thank you in advance

Try Sygic or IGO. There is not to much to choose...
