Need some help adding in a new map (europe)

Hey guys,

Forgive me if any of this sounds pretty dumb and the answers are pretty obvious:

Just ordered a garmin driveassist 51lmt-s with US maps and looking at adding the Europe map. I have two image files (north and south), bunch of jcv files and speedcarmera files.. (.gpi) I believe.

My question is.. Do I just dump them all on to a sd card and i'm good to go? Is there a certain folder structure that I need to have on the card? Is there a way to check if the map works properly

Mapinstall, mapsource, basecamp... all these apps and I can't seem to find a good guide. I had a nuvi270 before and all i'd do is just write the img file to local storage and bam.. I was done. Its clearly a bit more complicated now.

Also, any way for me to tell if I have nt or ntu.. and which is better? I'll shut up so I don't sound more dumb lol

If anyone can point me to either a guide or "stop asking dumb questions.. here is the info" i'd greatly appreciate it.

On sd card create a folder named Map
Copy North and South to this folder
On Sd card create folder garmin with Subfolder JCV
Copy Jcv file to this folder
Using GPS simulator you can test your map.

ok so if in the xml file I see info like <dtlx:ExternalPath>Garmin/JCV/</dtlx:ExternalPath> then that's the folder structure that I need to configure on the sd card where i'm going to put my files right?

What about files that don't have an externalpath info in the xml file? ASR files. Do they just go on the garmin into .system/ASR? If I don't see G2S in the xml file that means my garmin doesn't support it right?

gpi like cyclops files go in POI ?
SID and SQLite files.. any issues with those?

Sorry one more question... Do I need to adjust the file names? or will the names be ok as they are?

just call it north.img and south.img
leave the jcv file with it's original filename.
g2s is traffic trends - you don't need it
Asr is in .system/ASR for voice command (you don't really need it for holiday)

Do a full backup of your nuvi before copying files to the main memory.
I usually just copy the img and the jcv files to the memory card. I remove the memory card before connecting to Garmin Express.
on memory card make folder POI and copy your GPI files inside.
Don't contaminate your Nuvi main Memory with downloaded files can crash and difficult to fix.
