    Default Vale AlexWhiter

It is with a heavy heart that i write this announcement. AlexWhiter, one of the most helpful and valued members of the Garmin section has passed away. This news was given to me by another valued member Cnfhbr who noted Alex had not posted here since May last year and after careful searching for news of Alex, Cnfhbr was most distressed and saddened to recently learn that Alex had passed away about 6 months ago. He was aged only in his early 40's. Cnfhbr has provided some other details about Alex, reproduced below:

"He was a good man, a reliable friend, an excellent family man and a brilliant programmer.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and young son.

For hobbies, besides programming and GPS navigation, he was fond of photography, hiking and cycling. He was the organizer and participant of numerous walking and bike tours. He lived an active and eventful life and loved his family very much.

He has made a huge contribution to the development of the Garmin GPS System section of this forum".

Both catymag and smokefree as well as Cnfhbr have asked that i include their great sadness and distress of his passing. To that i also add mine.

Note: Usually Announcements are closed after the first post. This one will be left intentionally open for a period to allow other members to add their personal comments in a post. I ask that other mods please do not close it. EDIT: Now closed.

Vale AlexWhiter. May he Rest in Peace.

Programming has never been my forte, so my contact with AlexWhiter was only in my capacity as a Global Mod. In that role, I got to know him as an outstanding programmer and knowledgeable person, always ready to lend a helping hand. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. He will be sadly missed. May his soul rest in peace.

I am truly saddened by this news, but never as much as his family.
