Activate navigation first or update system to 3.10? You can ask for a link to F8 sync2 maps

OK so I've run Ubuntu from a usb stick on my laptop and I have my sd card inserted into the sd card reader, run the above command from Terminal and get this -

    cat: /: Is a directory
cat: sys: No such file or directory
    cat: /: Is a directory
cat: block: No such file or directory
    cat: /: Is a directory
cat: mmcblk0: No such file or directory
    cat: /: Is a directory
cat: device: No such file or directory

Any ideas to why it's not working? Thanks in advance

Make sure there is only 1 "space" after "cat"

Card is in exFat format. I had same problem with USB stick (for music) and problem was fixed by formatting it to Fat32....
Hi. I have the same problem. Does not recognize the card. "Ins. Sd navigation card" I recently activated navigation with Forscan. I have version 3.08, do you think that updating to 3.10 would correct the problem? The map loaded it correctly in the SD, but it doesn't work in the Sync. You solved the problem?

    Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I answer. I have updated Sync2 with version 3.10 and have already recognized the SD of the F8 maps. Now I finally have a browser on the C-max. Thank you very much to the forum, it has been a great help.

    Gracias desde España

Thanks to the links and instructions on here I've been able to update my F4 maps to F8, using a Sandisk 64Gb SD card.

Although I initially used a Raspberry Pi running Raspian to try and get the SD card serial, that only returned the boot card value, not the one in the USB reader, so used a Ubuntu Live iso which I added to a bootable flash drive created with a handy tool at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], then read the SD card in the built in card reader

Hex serial obtained, converted to Decimal, then SDCard.key created and jobs a goodun..

Am I missing something? Surely the serial can be gotten from DOS?

    Spoiler: image
    cmd dir

Isn't that the right serial if you go to that drive, to save all that hassle of Android pre 8.x and downloading apps?

Also, F9 map may be out now?!..... oooooooo

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
I appreciate that's for sync 3 and not 2, but is the map the same?

So I cannot get it to work. What I have done so far (I do not have access to an android device and don't have the skillset to make a bootable linux USB device to do it that way):

    1. Update car to 3.10 (confirmed ok)
    2. Format micro-SD to ex-fat
    3. Download and copy F8 maps onto 32Gb micro-SD, having deleted the extra voices I don't need to make it fit
    4. Confirmed in the root of SD I have "Data" "Nuance" and "Gracenote" folders, dontindx.msa file, Wolverine_Global_Third Party Open Source Licenses_09-25-13.txt file and version.txt file.
    5. As per my post in post 118, my SD card shows as serial 541D-C2AB
    6. convert that to HEX which comes out as 1411236523
    7. Use command "java -jar keygen.jar 1411236523"
    8. Copy SdCard.key to micro-SD
    9. Put into adaptor, and plug into car

I still get invalid card. ARGH!

    So, with research:

"the volume serial number of the file system on the SD card and the hardware serial number of the SD card are 2 different things"

    DOUBLE ARGH!

    BUT, fear not....... WINDOWS FIX(ish)

    1. Download Rufus portable:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    2. Download Ubuntu desktop:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    3. use rufus to "burn" the ISO to a USB stick
    4. Boot from USB, and choose run from USB rather than installing
    5. Windows button, and look for "term"
    6. type "cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/serial" without the ""
    7. you then have an 0xabababab key, remove the 0x at the front, then you're back on track to convert from hex :D
