Default Help to run custom maps on GPSMAP 421s

    Hello,

I was given 3 maps in MapInfo MIF/MID exchange format.

I would like to run them on my GPSMAP 421s but still didn't get a clue on how to do it after 3 weeks on it...

Yea... I'm really a newbie at this and I'm completely lost!

I just have those 3 maps to do and only that.

    Could someone help me please?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hi,

Here a couple of suggestions (guidelines). Sorry I have never made a marine map. But hope it is helpful and someone more familiar helps too:

    1. First begin making a simple map with a few elements!
    2. Mapinfo can export (translate) MIF/MID into SHP which is supported by the Creator. Or you can do that with Global Mapper lets say.
    3. Look at the "Navaid Attributes" in the manual and see what are the possible marine attributes supported

BTW I see you have also wrote in the cgpsmapper thread which is good too. Not very sure about that but think cgpsmapper support more marine elements than the Creator. Maybe it will be better to make a map with it. Keep in mind that cgpsmapper supports .mp input format which is very uncomfortable format but may do the job.

Here a couple of threads that may also be of help to you:

If you are using MapInfo think the extension Vertical Mapper will be of big use to you or the program Surfer for creating the "Fish Eye" (I read that it is possible):
