EDIT: A bit more on the 'boomers'.
Being a global community I guess there's people who don't know what a 'boomer' means in Australia.
Boomer is a nickname for a large male Kangaroo, though living in a town that has it's own resident polulation of Kangaroos no one I know here calls them boomers.
I first heard the term in the the Christmas song written by Rolf Harris - Six White Boomers.

When i was about ten years old my family had a holiday in Tasmania, that's where i first heard the term 'boomer', we've always referred to the males just as bucks here and if they're particularly large, then 'big buck'. I've not heard boomer used in rural Queensland either Mac. I reckon probably it's just an extension of the other meaning for large, as in 'boomer crop', or more usually, 'bumper crop' for example. Maybe it's also a nod to the sound that big bucks make when hopping at speed on a firm surface 'cos that certainly can be a 'booming' kind of noise. BTW, like Dulux, we prefer not to mention that Rolf guy anymore. Pity he's not in a prison here, our crims know what to do with Rock Spiders. Dunno if the Poms sort em out like that.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

Gotta go and peel some prawns ready for lunch, my 6 yo granddaughter eats them faster than i can peel them and i can peel up to 8 big Northern Kings per minute, de-veined an' all. Might be time to teach her how to do that herself i think. BTW, for translation purposes, an esky is a portable icebox but a ute doesn't really have a 'boot' [trunk] that's just done for rhyming purposes. 'Thongs' aren't 'g-string undies' here, they're flipflops [the Kiwis call 'em 'jandles']. Any other mysterious words just ask.

    This is just downright cute:

Best words to 'Walzing Matilda' melody for sure.

Might as well throw in the Kiwi equivalent for an esky: a chilli bin (a reliable source once told me).

    Merry Christmas, everyone!

    Merry Christmas, everyone!
I bet your reliable source pronounced it differently: 'Bro, only those sully biggars ov'r the dutch say 'esky'. We call 'em 'chully buns' here Cuz, hey'. To the rest of the world, Kiwi vowels are mangled: 'e' sounds like 'i', 'i' is like 'u' ...... And they say we're a weird mob!
PS: Not Chilli as in hot pepper, Chilly as in very cold Stewie. Time for you to go back to Heavy Maintenance at Auckland for a total refit.
