    Hi everyone

I also have the same problem. I use a pioneer 111d. Is it a compatible writer? When i added the dvd into the navigation, it scratched by the lens or something else. Any ideas?

I waited for 6 minutes but whiteout any result. I even rebooted the system by holding radio and setup until the audi boot screen is shown.
Is the dvd ok? And if so how can I make sure it will start the firmware-update? The system now works with a original dvd 2006.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Ok folks,
I did some more research on how to check if burned DVD can be interpreted as maps in our RNSE. I searched the internet for suitable program to find out what layer type bit was actually burned. You can find source code and object file to run in an attachment. It can only run on linux systems, if you can't run program directly, you have to compile it on your machine with use of noddy.c file. If you don't know what I'm talking about just ask someone around you with linux and some programmer skills. He'll know how to compile c files. Then you insert burned DVD to drive and run program.

So after you run the program you would get output of header attributes of your DVD. Like I have written in previous post, the cause of our burned maps to not working could be wrong layer type attribute. But this has to be confirmed with someone who successfully burned maps by providing output of program I provide in an attachment. Need to note, Layer Type attribute can't be set, it is hardcoded to your drive, that's why some burners are compatible and others are not.

All info comes from: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    Thanks for these valuable information.

So, back to program: for example, this is output of program when original maps from 2005 is inserted in DVD drive of my PC:

    Layer 0[2]
    Book Version: 1
    Book Type: 0
    Min Rate: 2
    Disk Size: 0
    Layer Type: 1
    Track Path: 0
    Num Layers: 1
    Track Density: 0
    Linear Density: 1
    BCA: 0
    Start Sector 0x30000
    End Sector 0x20127f
    End Sector L0 0
    Layer 1[2]
    Book Version: 1
    Book Type: 0
    Min Rate: 2
    Disk Size: 0
    Layer Type: 1
    Track Path: 0
    Num Layers: 1
    Track Density: 0
    Linear Density: 1
    BCA: 0
    Start Sector 0x30000
    End Sector 0x1f8071
    End Sector L0 0

As you can see, Book Type attribute is correctly set to 0 (DVD-ROM) and Layer Type is set to 1 (Read Only). RNSE nav has no problems with reading this DVD. On the other side I have burned maps with 2016 Lite-on iHas-124 drive and get following results:

    Layer 0[2]
    Book Version: 1
    Book Type: 0
    Min Rate: 15
    Disk Size: 0
    Layer Type: 2
    Track Path: 1
    Num Layers: 1
    Track Density: 0
    Linear Density: 1
    BCA: 0
    Start Sector 0x30000
    End Sector 0xfcffef
    End Sector L0 0x1b783f
    Layer 1[2]
    Book Version: 1
    Book Type: 0
    Min Rate: 15
    Disk Size: 0
    Layer Type: 2
    Track Path: 1
    Num Layers: 1
    Track Density: 0
    Linear Density: 1
    BCA: 0
    Start Sector 0x30000
    End Sector 0xfcffef
    End Sector L0 0x1b783f
    Copyright: CPST=0, RMI=00

Book Type correctly set to 0 (DVD-ROM), however Layer Type set to 2 (Recordable). As claimed before this attributes makes RNSE to handle DVD like datadisk and only run RNSE update, but won't load maps. ALL OF THIS IS CLAIMED AND NOT PROVED, to be sure, output of program from someone who successfully burned maps is needed!

    Hi guys
Successfully completed operation with version 2016
    Firmware rns-e update 0.660
Dvd Verbatim + Pioneer 221bk + Alcohol 120 burning and DVD dvdrom setup for dvd + r and everything works !!!
Now there is a doubt that LG's work with LG is also working, and only the 0.660 firmware update was enough

1 inserted rnse navi dvd to pc dvd slot
2 run patch tool, tool copy rnse firmware in pc...
3 remove dvd from pc slot
4 put blank cd recordable in pc slot
5 press burn new firmware at bottoms, tool burns new firmware cd...
6 take firmwares cd to rnse, put in rns-e slot alone
7 rnse ups firmware new patch version on cd...
8 removed cd from rnse, repalce navi dvd
9 now rnse ok nav dvd any burner if set booktype correct!

    Later edit:
i think no newer burner exist no more
rnse need booktype set*dvd rom*as all know but also layertype set readonly
newer burner all set layertype recordable so rnse rejict that disk and say*software update*only
some older burner used set layertype readonly for max compatible with profession dvd
you can patch rnse firm warez to ignor layertype if want
then only need booktype set tool
    Tks @AudiRNSE!
    @MicheyMouse

I used the recommended tool and it worked. But I did not understand something ...
Rns-does compatibility make rns-e compatible with any disc even if the burner is not compatible or does the correct burner have the same? In my opinion, the listed lists of burners are useful if you do not use rns-e compatibility but if you use this tool you can use any burner. Is my opinion correct?

I say once again ... I never used this tool, I found it on another forum and posted it here ... I'm going to try it the next day. It was good to post here the extracted firmware from the original dvd, maybe someone can use it, many people do not have their original dvd.

OK guys, this weekend I bought burned 2017 maps from local seller. Not only he had sold me maps, even cleared my RNS-E optics. Anyway I ran my program to see what's the layer type bit set. As claimed before it was set to 1, Read-only. So only BURNERS with correct firmware bitsetting are compatible! End of story.

    Cheers.
