Have you tried FID 800 Maps like modified CityXplorer 2014.1 ?
Maybe a similar technique could be used ?? Like changing the FID, Internal Name etc

Yes they have .gma like all the maps with FID greater than 2200, but probably here the firmware looks for City Navigator (old and new) .gma only .... for now.
    I haven't tested CNAM

Extract rar beside CN map, if you have CN with name gmapsupp then just rename gmapprom unl and gma to gmapsupp gma and unl.

In a Dutch forum it's reported that the problem is there(also) with the new European map from Openfietsmap (Openstreetmap), that map has the MAPID:10140
Here there is no gma-file in question.
So Garmin has made a mistake with this new firmware upgrade, or it is the beginning of a further security methodology

No problems with the great OSM based Freizeitkarten, they still work very well.
    Freizeitkarte Alps FID=8020

    Topo Island (ourfootprints.de) also works.

I just visited this Dutch forum: this specific map (FID=10140) is larger than 4Gb and is meant only to be used in Basecamp. The separate EU maps are reported to work correctly.

As far as I can judge at the moment all (Topo) maps except CN are working.
