    I really like the overspeed function and I think for Australia and South Africa the Closest setting is UK

    It's easy enough to edit the locales.xml to change the Pound Sign for R(ands) or ($) dollars
    In fact you can just about change most settings to your settings. If you use Notepad++ the file will not corrupt in any way.

    <Locale>
    <Name>United Kingdom</Name>
    <NonLocalizedName>United Kingdom</NonLocalizedName>
    <CountryISOCode>GB</CountryISOCode>
    <Location>
    <Lat>51.5039</Lat>

    No Problem so far, We use en_GB.srd by default anyway, ASR does not work with Afrikaans or with English US.
    Voice Command seems to be controlled when you change TEXT, I can use British Text with Karen Voice and ASR still works.
    I do have en_AU.srd loaded as well.

    Like others, I thought that was a problem inherent of the firmware and that had no solution, but, fortunately, I was wrong. The solution is very simple: just Clean User Data in Diagnost Page, choose Luxemburg as a country (among others) and your language. It is simple as that.

    Below the step by step for users less acquainted:

    1. from the home page of the gps, enter in the Volume page, press and hold the upper-right corner of the screen to enter in the "Diagnostic Page"
    2. click on "Clear All User Data", but before backup your data if necessary (read note below).
    3. gps restarts and requested the name of the country. Select "Luxemburg and press OK.
    4. following appears "Select Language", select "Other"/OK/your language/OK.
    5. Change in Settings, the language of the keyboard, if applicable.
    6. Ended procedures is necessary to tune patiently satellites, time-consuming process because the system thinks are in Luxembourg ..
    Then test on the move on the street and everything will work perfectly.

    * Backup of user data:
    copy the current.gpx file of the GPX folder of Gps before of the reset (clear all user data, clear non vol, etc.) to any location on your computer, but changing the file name to current1.gpx. To restore the data copy back the file to the GPX folder of the Gps. Or use Basecamp or Mapsource for this.

    ** tested in Nuvi 3490 and 3790 mod with 3490 fw, so should be functional with all families of 2012 firmware already mentioned. It also works in "Pedestrian mode"

    Hello all,
    I did as indicated on a US 3750 converted to 34XX. Yes I got the street name ( driving on xxx street) and speed alarm. But when I copied back the current.gpx I did not get back my saved addresses and now when I wanted to save an address I got the error : Memory allotted for saved places is full. What is wrong? Can I safely delete the archive folder in the GPX folder ? If I deleted all the saved places will I loose the custom POI like truck down, etc..?
    In advance thanks for any input.

    No.

    From [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    GPX - Folder stores your trip log.
    Current.gpx = the file is created each time you connect your Nuvi to USB. Stores all current loaded routes and waypoints (aka favorites), tracks in Nuvi. This file will contain the following data:
    1. All of your favorites (the locations that you have saved)
    2. Your current track (a line that shows everywhere you've been)
    3. Any routes that you have saved.
    Temp.gpx = it stores all routes and waypoints :created for connecton from Mapsource to Nuvi

    POIs are saved in POI folder:
    POI -Folder stores custom POI and travel guide files. Preloaded Cyclops.gpi = trial version of Garmin's speedcams subscription,Truck down.gpi ,SCDB.gpi. All these files have .GPI extensions.

    You must rename your current.gpx to curren1.gpx or temp.gpx and add in in folder Garmin on nuvi and you will have back or your favorites when you restart nuvi.

    Thanks Caty and lolypop.
    I deleted all saved places and put back current1.gpx and still didn't get back my saved addresses. I should add that now my country is set to Luxembourg and the addresses were saved while my country is set to Canada.
    Anyway now I could save places and that is more important than getting back the saved ones.
    Once again thank you.

    If you made a backup of these files you can try to import them to Mapsource and then in nuvi

    If you use Express to backup data do reset and then restore it will put back favourites(all gpx), Sqlite database,Trips, Poi (Stored on the unit,not memory card), and mileage.csv
    I find that Express is the best for backup and restore user data only and can also be used for transferring favourites from one Garmin Device to another.
    The devices can be different models.
