Since this has data from bicimapas and on the bici webpage it shows a nuvi (and their bici mexico topos always worked with nuvis), it should work with a nuvi (at least a 14xx series), but it may be the shading will not work. Bici did not have shading that appears with this Garmin version. After loading this into a nuvi it appears to work fine, but as stated earlier one area in baja at a close zoom had some blocks with shading that did not work. Labels, trails, tracks and contour lines appeared normal, although the trails in basecamp show as dotted lines, in nuvi they are thin gray lines. So for offroad navigating it should do the job.
Load it into basecamp or mapsource (I like gmap to convert the imgs) for a specific area and compare.

This was confirmation from Garmin - The Garmin TOPO Mexico map is made up of bici 2012 data ...this type of TOPO map looks better on a handheld device than a Nuvi. ..elevation shading and searching for outdoor specific POIs for summits, lakes, etc will not work. Gas stations, etc search does function.

Since this is primarily an "offroad" map searching is not as necessary, if searching for features were, one could use Basecamp/Mapsource.....If searching were needed on a nuvi (but nuvi does not have a mountain/river/lake search as do the "compatible" handhelds) see -

The subject garmin map may still be nuvi searchable for the nuvi menu search items (cities, gas stations, etc)....

One way to convert imgs to mapsource (post 14):

Having downloaded TOPO Mexico v2.0 and installed it on my nuvi 650's SD card, I find that Map Info is greyed out. Connecting the nuvi to my computer via USB, I can access the map in Base Camp.

Is this normal behavior for TOPO Mexico and a nuvi 650?

Thanks for that: I had no idea there was a 2GB map size limit.

You can split files for Mapsource with Gmaptool

and install a smaller part of the map in nuvi. This map have search function just by pois, so you wont loose anything.

You have to navigate to get to the good.
