I meant to say:
2) Burn the CD with the original 3.50 GCD and perform the update.
If you've flashed 3.50 firmware again, then CD update with 3.50 most probably won't work, and the icons won't appear. Then you would need to start from step 0.
Ok, in the meantime i tried one more time CD update - SUCCESS, for a while i will write a little more.

Ok guys, now I can confirm. Everything gone great. The navigation system is fully working now with fresh maps and polish interface. So I would like to say big, big thanks to You guys, especially Kunix and lolypop000. Without Your help I would have a brick.
For everybody with similar trouble. The procedure described by Kunix is only one right method, so in case of trouble with the unit's I suggest first ask our master;-)
FYI guys. In Poland Garmin service claim that the main board is damaged and irreparable. Only one method is change navi main board to brand new one. Cost about 300 euro. Drama.
Best regards for all.
I'm glad to be helpful

Hi guys,
Here also some problems with the kenwood DNX-7240BT. It has no SD-card slot and I try to change-out some maps between Laptop and DNX-7240BT. Via the USB I can't create a connection to my laptop. It just doesn't do or show anything. No Garmin folder or drive or whatsoever available when I connect to Laptop via USD (I have mini USB in Kenwood, to female USB and then male - male USB extension cable to my laptop)
please please anyone
I have the idea (cannot test yet, because I'm at work) that I tried it like that. I tried to connect already so many times..... I will definately try it like this tonight. Is there a possibility it might have something to do with the extension cable? mini usb - female usb from the set and then male - male to laptop?
In other words; does it make sense to retrieve the set from the dashboard and connect directly with a mini usb - usb (cable from a samsung smartphone for example?)
I don't get the message if I'd like to go into USB mode or webupdate mode :-(. Is there a possibility it might have something to do with the extension cable? mini usb - female usb from the set and then male - male to laptop?

You must connect mini usb cable to the back side of your radio ( you need to take out radio from dashboard to see this mini usb hole)
Look at picture back side of your radio, i mark with red where you must connect mini usb cable:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Then add mini usb to this hole and then do this:
Turn on Radio but don't turn on navigation
connect other end of cable to PC
Turn on navigation and you will see on navigation screen warning if you like to go in USB mode/mass storage or webupdater mode.
