Hi,
I want to patch Montana firmware 4.2.
So I downloaded and unzipped Firmwarepatcher 211.
Then I downloaded Montana420.gcd file on
http://[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I renamed Montana420.gcd in gupdate.gcd.
Then I ran Firmwarepatcher.exe and patched the gupdate.gcd file so that I obtained a gupdate_Patched.gcd file.
Before making a mistake, I would like to know if :
• I connect the Montana to my computer under USB Mass Storage Mode
• I copy the gupdate_Patched.gcd file to [Montana]:\Garmin\
• I disconnect and reboot the Montana
patching process will work without any problems.
Will it be possible to come back to the unpatched version by using original gupdate file ?

Rename gupdate_Patched.gcd to gupdate.gcd before copying to Montana!
You must have on device SW lower then version 4.20! If no you must install previous version on device. Copy gupdate.gcd with previous original SW to device only. Reboot for installing of old SW and than use new patched SW.
The same way for come back to the unpatched version - you need to re-install previous original version of SW and then install 4.20 or simply install the latest original SW (above 4.20) if it is present.
Warning! All come back will clear your data - make back up for restore!!! Basecamp suits fine for this purpose...Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

Hi,
Just another question about .gcd file : this latter can't be seen in Garmin folder once update is achieved. Does it disappear once job is done ?

Usually the .gcd file remains after update. It's recommended to delete it manually.

gupdate.gcd must be deleted by your device if no you may delete yourself... Originally Posted by sergio2

Doesn´t work with new firmware Garmin Oregon v 6.00
Processing file C:\gupdate.gcd
Firmware version as specified in GCD file: 6.00 for Oregon x50.
Firmware name: Software Version 6.00 for Oregon x50.
Pattern not found.
