Thanks for a quick reply, but mine is 500. Any ideas for this one?
P.S. I'm not next to my device at the moment, so I can't check if your original suggestion works.

You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
Thanks in advance, will update asap once I try this out
Why is this number so important?
You can create unlock strings for maps and other things to the memory card Id.
Then the maps become portable.
Its like Unit ID but for the Memory card.
Was more important in the past now with unlocked maps it's not so critical.
Example:
Garmin sells maps on memory card that are portable from nuvi to nuvi.
These are unlocked to the memory card in the Factory.
This number may or may not be important depending on what you are trying to do. Thes days, it's relatively unimportant for most folks.
This number (the SD serial number) is necessary only if you have a situation where you are trying to generate and Unlock key for a map saved on a specifc SD Card and you would like to use that particular SD in mltiple GPS units.
In a keygen (generating an unlock key), using that SD card S/N associtaes the MAP, the Unlock Key/code, and SD as a "set" so the map is now unlocked "only" on that SD and you can then use the SD and Map in any GPS you like.
If on the other hand you were put a map on SD and create and Unlock Key using your GPS Unit ID (as opposed to the SD card ID), the map would only be unlocked when the SD containing the map was used with the GPS for which it has been unlocked.
Although are still a few reasons for wanting to still use an .UNL file containing a key, these days, it's generally much easier to simply use an unlockable IMG files as they work almost all cases with all devices.

For a Etrex works good.
Hi,
I have Garmin 640
Turn on your GPS.
On te top center there is an icon with a boat or a car, depending in which mode you are.
If you are in Boat mode, touch the boat icon, this will change the mode to land mode.
Once in land mode, touch and hold down the battery icon for 10 seconds.
This will enter the gps on test mode.
on botton right corner push next to times (third screeen)
You will see tha size of your sd card and the SN (serial number)
Greetings mortals! :-)
Yep.. I've been away and I'm not always right here but, I used to help a lot in a few Garmin communties in Brazil... anyway.
The ID is important and so far I've manage to get through the regular holding 10sec procedure (I have a few videos on youtube). I know that with so many unlocked maps available, this becomes a no need, but...
I've been using Nokia cels and I've been using GarminXT on them for a few years... Just to share...
What I use to get the ID from the cards was a simple procedure: insert the SD or microSD card on the GPS and then press the battery icon procedure.
Today, I decided to change my 32Gb microSD for a 32Gb microSD Class 10 (to see if it was fast or not...) and of course, GarminXT did not load anymore. I thought, what the heck, let me get the GPS and go for business... then I realized it was in the car... and my wife left home with it.
Alternative method: I have many card reader... adaptors. I simply have the card with a directory named \Garmin and I put the microSD on the reader and then I opened Mapsource... using tools, I tried to get the Device ID.... since the GPS is read as a "removable disk unit" and the card reader is the same, Mapsource gave me the card ID.
I used GarminUnlock and I got my UNL value!
Worked like a charm and Nokia with GarminXT is up again.
PS if you anyone wants to check... youtube... <gilvamcarvalho> and I think it's basically in Portuguese... so you have no surprises... THX!
