    @hcch

    Assuming that you ask for for existence of some upgrade for nüvi 255w within the thread topic.

    The JNX patcher and related patched firmwares is only for Garmin units that uses JNX files.

    Also look at post [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. It's actually the post before your own and you should have read that and got the answer before posting your question.

    The patcher is updated to version 2.10. In the new version, support of latest FW 4.02 for Montana is added, as well as FW 2.50 for Edge 800 Japanese Edition, and some custom firmwares with non-standard GCD containers.
    The archive is available from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    @ AlexWhiter

    Hello Alex,

    I have a few questions - Is it really needed the firmware to be patched so to be used the created .jnx files? Is it possible to create and use jnx files without patching the FW?

    Thanks,

    There are two options:
    1. Patch a device, and then use any valid JNX map in it.
    2. Leave the device as is, buy a BirdsEye subscription, and then use BaseCamp to sign every JNX map you'd like to use in your device.

    Correct me if I am wrong - a device won't read a jnx map if the jnx is not signed by Base Camp (garmin)? Am I correct? That is why the patch is needed?

    Yes, you are correct. The patch removes the signature correctness check.

    Hi,

    If I patch My Montana firmware 3.9 with firmwarepatcher, will it be possible to come back to the original firmware 3.9 ? How ?
    I created a .jnx file with Map2MAPC and apparently .jnx files can't be seen in Basecamp as .kmz files can.
    I haven't yet well understood the process although I read all posts. What can I do with the firmwarepatcher.exe ???? Where do I have to run it ? Some people use internal memory, others SD cards ............
    Furthermore, I can't find any gupdate.gcd file in Montana Garmin folder.
