somebody gave my an sd card containing hong kong and macau map.
when i use it, i notice that the offset is very big. why?
Depending your device, it helps to put the "006B082300.bin" file into the folder where is the map located.
It may be that the OP's gps was made for use in China, which automatically applies a counter-offset to compensate for the offsets in the official maps. I don't believe maps of Hong Kong and Macau have the offset, because the laws requiring an offset do not apply in neither Hong Kong nor Macau. If the OP's gps applies a counter-offset to a non-offset map, it will create an offset in the opposite direction. Sorry, I don't know how to fix this problem.
Have tried using Hong Kong maps both with and without the corrective file with no difference - the offset is still there in map mode ans is significant - however in automotive mode the unit seems to behave but this is probably more a programming issue than an improvement in the actual gps accuracy.
thanks for the info with the offset, you saved me a lot of time trying to fix the problem
I bought the Garmin maps back in South Africa only to find out that my nuvi 500 is constantly out! In the beginning it was fun getting lost, but not anymore.....
The link: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] does not seem to work. Can anyone please give me an idea where I can download it as I have contacted Garmin but had no feedback from them yet. I am also trying to download it as a bit torrent but it is taking forever as the vere are no seeders.
Thanks
