Garmin's CN North America map of Mexico used to be poor. BiciMapas was much better.
However Garmin's has been improving - especially with the 2012 editions. To me in west central Sonora they appear equally good (or bad depending on your perspective).
Which do you think is better? And where have you used it?

If you drive offroad at all CARToGRAFíA E32 has the most detail by far. If you are just driving the highways Garmin works well. Garmin just does not show the detail, contours, dirt roads, small town details, etc.

floydo - how does Cartografia E32 compare to the 1:50,000 paper topo maps published by INEGI?
Perhaps since you are familiar with the paper maps, go to their web and look at the video presentation and samples. Their topo appears more detailed than USGS 1:100k, closer to 1:25k. The GPS tells you the arroyos you might be in and trails or canyons out....paper doesn't quite do that for you without cross referencing coordinates from a GPS....so that is no comparison. Also E32 has businesses, tiendas, gas stations, etc...I use this with a backup of the National Geographic baja N & S paper maps. E32 is much more detailed than Natl Geographic.
If you are offroad in baja at least, paper maps don't have the detail or you have a pile of paper. Many different trails often lead out, so GPS is the easiest way to go. Otherwise you are going back and forth coordinates to paper.
BICI has good topos, and I believe they autoroute. Not as good as Garmin in the big cities...
Depends on your use. What's yours, and what is important for your use?
Thanks Floydo. It is good to know that E32 is better than 1:50,000.
I use topo maps for slow travel - bicycle and foot. My paper INEGI topo maps are quite out of date with respect to human created features.
