Hi, I have a complicated problem in my nuvi 1390T. I've tried different cures firmwares, that I've done following criteria established, including the solutions of this topic, but without success. The Nuvi enters in pre-boot, writes the firmware, but freezes on the logo Garmin at startup or enters in looping boot (depending on the firmware), with or without SD card. Quite possibly it may be some bad sector in the Boot Block, if the memory follow the same principle of Roms of motherboards, but I have no idea how to access this sector and what code should I change... I accept suggestions. Tks

Maybe you mean bad sectors in the memory? BB is the loader. What did you do last to your nuvi?
Sometimes I am thinking that the bast way such problems to be dealt is the device to be returned to Garmin. Why to bother to fix it from unknown guys from internet - cure firmware etc.?! This is just stupid.
I think we have many reasons to fix the Nuvi by ourselve.
You have to navigate to get to the good.

Hi, Caty and friends, thanks for your support, we are in the fight, learning and forwarding something because there are always those who know less than us, beyond what is always a pleasure to be exercising the mind ..
Returning to the case of the patient here, the last thing that was done in GPS was opening the file trafficprovider.xml by Opera browser the other night and the next morning the nuvi no longer boot. Considering that my Opera is not finished properly when it is closed and the nuvi was connected, I felt that he could have corrupted some file of the boot sector of my Nuvi or perhaps a sector of memory. So, first I made a Cure eliminating access to xml files but did not work (may have missed some string). Then I tried several other combinations of Cures, but not solved. How can I install any firmware from pre boot, I imagine a sector or file corrupted that may be crucial to boot. I also tried removing the battery and kept getting install complete firmware or cures, but also did not work. Anyway, I will not give up easily, In the worst case I get the ability to do Cures ..
I hope to be minimally understood, despite my poorly english..

Still does not solve my problem, but keep trying to find a solution before sending to Garmin technical support, which charges too much for service. Apparently the problem seems to be MBR partition table corrupted, but I can not access the drive at all, despite appearing "Garmin USB GPS" in Device Manager of the W7. My big problem now is how to access the drive. Does anyone have any ideas or even the suggestion of a tool that can access it? WebUpdater identifies the unit, including the GPS ID number, but when try to do the upgrade reports error, "corrupt file" and aborts the process.
Only the fw 5.40 cure with strings 30 00 3A 00 2F to 00 00 3A 00 2F; 31 00 3A 00 2F to 00 00 3A 00 2F; 30 3A 2F to 00 3A 2F and 31 3A 2F to 00 3A 2F to prevented the looping boot and was the only that displays the screen "System Software Missing". With other Cures, Garmin logo appears and is boot looping (constantly restarting).
I appreciate any, any, help, tks... (nuvi 1390T HWID 972 - the last fw used was nuvi 1360 japan fw 3.00 + boot.ini USA, but it worked perfectly for over one month).
