I just got a nuvi 1250. I used webupdater from garmin to update the software to 5.20 and the maps. After that, I put a microSD card(8gb) in and copied an unlocked korean CN v8 .img to the /garmin folder I created. It wouldn't recognize the map at all. I've tried renaming, removing spaces, changing the folder to /maps. Then I tried a 2gb card, with no luck. I tried loading an unlock euro .img, but it would load either. I've been checking the map info under setting to confirm it isn't loading. All it show are the standard maps I also held my finger on the battery icon to bring up the diagnostic menus, and it show the SD card being present. If it was recognized but locked, would it throw an error? It acts like there's nothing on the card. Am I missing something? Do I need to tweak something in the firmware? Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.
You have to navigate to get to the good.

Thank you. When I used the correct folder name they loaded right up. Now I need to read up on POIs
Not sure what you POI questions might be but in case you do not realize it, the millions of default garmin POIS are already built into that IMG file so you already have them.
Any additional POIS would be called "custom POI's" that you install yourself. Custom POI files have the .GPI extension, are found in the POI folder of your GPS ir SD/microSD card, and are for the most part are compiled and output as GPI files by the garmin POI loader.
The included POIs don't cover military installations, and other popular destinations for Expats. There are also issues with the inconsistacy in the romanization of Korean words. Ive already figured it out, and I've setup a public Google map with poi. I can push them to the garmin with Google earth/poiedit/poiloader. Thanks again
