Default Nuvi765t installing Mapsource CNNANT2011.31 questions

I have a Nuvi 765t and have the latest CNNANT2011.31 maps installed on a patched version of MapSource 6163 on my PC.

I am using the selection tool to copy and transfer all of map onto my 765.

This method will NOT update anything except the map img.

I have the newest copies of the JCV, 3d files from when I did a lifetime update on my 775 and saved the install files.

So.... do I just copy over any of the "new" JCV, 3d, basemap, TZ files to the 765 now ?

And do I need to delete the older files off of the 765 once I copy over the newer JVC and 3d files etc ?

3d in your nuvi's \Garmin directory: you must delete the old one-
JCV into your Garmin folder.( x:\Garmin\JCV )
or in a subfolder called JCV on the SD Card , : it's perfectly safe to delete old .jcv files
Basemap copy in Garmin folder : you must delete the old one
Save gmaptz.img in the Garmin folder on your device, you must delete the old one-
Anyway better to have a backup ,just in case

    CatyMag,

How about an "unlock" file ? Do I need to create a unl file in order to get this to unlock ?

I have transferred the maps using MapSource but I get the message "Can't Unlock Maps".

I see that the 765 now has a gmapprom.img AND a gmapsupp.img on it. DO I need to delete and rename something ?

I tried creating a unl file naming it gmapsupp.unl and it did not work so I tried renaming it gmapprom.unl and that did not work either.

I still get the Can't Unlock Maps message.

I created the unl file using the same unlock code generated by JM.

I also see TWO GMA Files on the 765. Why ?

What am I doing wrong ?

    Thanks.

If you unlocked the CN in Mapsource according to your device id, then it should be unlocked in the 765. (I am not sure whether your current firmware expects already the new gma-protection)
If not, then the message comes most likely form the gmap3d.img.
Just create a gmap3d.unl file and paste there inside the unlock code

Do I just use the same unlock code for the gmap3d unlock file as the one for the CNNANT2011.21 or do I need to generate a different code somehow ?

    Thanks

OK... done ! They are unlocked.

I started over from scratch. Used JM to generate a new unlock code and transferred the maps and JCV, 3d files etc.

I also deleted all the img files prior to transferring maps.

After maps were transferred, I looked and saw the new;y transferred maps were saved on the 765 as gmapsupp.img and NOT as gmapprom.img. Weird.... but I made an unlock file with the name gmapsupp.unl.

There is not a gmapprom.img on the unit, but it seems to be working OK.

I still note that there are still TWO gma files on the unit.

    Thanks for all the help.

These old gma files refer to your old detailed map and 3d map.
