Thanks for the rply.
I'm new in Garmin setup.
I'm just a bit confused. In step 1, i have to transfer the .img and the .unl to the Gramin device?
And then (step 2) I'll install the software on my pc and unlock it?
And then transfer the map to the Garmin device again??????/
Can you please help me.

This is the best Guide EVER. I couldn't get any guide to explain the different steps and alternatives to instal&unlock the maps. Great job, thank you so much!

Many thanks for the guide!
I have a zumo 660 (with Europe 2010 pre-loaded). I'm fairly certain I followed the guide and could use the maps (in my case NA 2011 & EU 2011) in MS without problem. However when I transfer to the GPS it says
"could not authenticate maps"
I'm running through the guide again just in case, but if anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

Thanks so much for posting this resource online. I purchased a 2005 BMW Motorcycle with a NavII - similar to the StreetPilot 2610. Unfortunatley the original owner did not have the software for the GPS and Garmin no longer had any more Non-NT City Guides. So I was basically SOL. My alternatives weren't very appetizing either - buy a NavIII from a BMW dealer for $800 (i kid you not) or buy a StreetPilot 26xx, 28xx from ebay for a few hundred bucks and loose functionality from the BMW specific connector.

Based on this thread I've been able to update the NavII to the 2009 non-nt city guide and upgrade the flash card to 2GB so the entire US is online. How sweet is that?

I'm buying a round of brewskies for everyone responsible for this site!

Hi there! I installed Garmin City Navigator Europe NT 2011.40 IMG as it is shown in point 1. It is also containing Mapsource 6.16.3. But If I changed it to the patched version, I got an error message about incorrect language dll. I tried to change my region to US or UK before the installation but it did not help.

I tried to install separatedly the version MapSource_6.15.11 but after changing the exe I got another message something like: error while installing 990_Family device.

I installed MapSource_6.16.2 and then the patched exe. MapSource now works well with my language (HUN). I also installed Naviguide Hungary for MapSource. In MapSource using the Tools/managing maps menu I can see the installed map marked as 'Unlocked'. But it cannot be found in the main MAPS windows in the left side so I cannot send it to my device.
