this is a new torrent--and one with the newest version of na 2011.30 us & canada.
when someone gets 100%---please seed for another 24 hours.
and set --options--preferences-maximum upload rate to "0"
that avoids the problem where hundreds of people get 99% and it never finishes.
there are now--48 peers--that will probably be 200 by tomorrow
your download will fly--should take 4 hours--lol
--if people corroborate.
=====================================
i want to thank the person who -started this torrent
i was on garmin's web page yesterday and the newest then was 2011.20
thanks
=======================
things like map id (2283)----------locked & unlocked img and jvc & 3d version's probably will be posted in a few days
note:
garmin use to put there maps on the garmin directory--
now garmin puts there maps --still called gmapprom.img on a hidden directory called .system
that is dot system---- .system
and there cityexplored maps on a map directory--with a name like seattle_2011_20.img and seattle_2011_20.unl ---
==============================================
if your garmin directory has only file in it-then you need to go to ---explorer highlight your gps--
explorer>tools>folder options>view>click show hidden files-
now you will see a .system directory with a lots of files there.
you will also see a file called gmapprom.img--that is your old mapset-
replace it with a new one called gmapprom.img ---which you need to rename ---gmapprom.img

Reason: i wanted to?
I know that with the previous version, Garmin had styarted out by downloading the update files to your PC and then DELETED them after the mpas were loaded onto your PC/GPS unit.
Then someone discovered a way to save those files to the PC before they are deleted.
I keep searching the forum but must not be using the correct terms.
Does anyone recall the thread/method for saving the install files while they are being D/L from Garmin ?
The latest Updated/MapInstaller gives you a choice to "save" the files, but they are not ALL the files we all want and need.
i updated my post---explained how to unhide the gps's .system directory--i hope that helps.
you can do a copy from .system/gmapprom.img to computer to save your old map-
then rename the new map to gmapprom.img and copy it to the .system directory.
it is not system its .system

GarminMapUpdater_v2.5.14.exe" stores the GMAP files and MapSource installation in "%TEMP%\IMG". Additional files like "*.JCV", "*.SRX", "*.ASR", "gmap3d.img" & "gmaptz.img" are stored in "%TEMP%". The files you receive depends on the "PartNumber" tag in the "GarminDevice.xml" file. Changing to a a PartNumber as for example to a nüvi 3790T with "<PartNumber>006-B1101-00</PartNumber><SoftwareVersion>250</SoftwareVersion>" will make the GarminMapDownloader to pick the additional files even for a non compatible Garmin device. nüvi 3790 download gets a larger photo-realistic JCV file that's probably not useful in other JCV capable units.

Hmm... now that's interesting.
I know it's possible to change the XML file with the XML editor and "fool" the garmin servier for registration purposes and the date of the first sat.fix, so I guess you could do the same thing with the part number in the xml file in order to make the server D/L the update that has ALL of the files one may ever need... including the ASR, JCV and others.... correct ?
