Question "Product Key" vs. "Unlock Code" vs. "Code"

All three of these appear on my map page on the Garmin site.

    Product Key is 8 characters
    Unlock Code is 25 characters
    Code is 7 characters

I'm lost and would like a better understanding of what these are and what they do. Could someone please explain what these are used for and where? That is, which ones are used on the PC with Mapsource and which ones are used on the device itself.

    Thank you!

Thanks. I did already and didn't find what I was looking for. I see "unlock code" everywhere but not the other two. Are they used for *anything* other than on the web site?

Garmin product key is the one you must insert when you enable eg. nüMaps Onetime™, nüMaps Lifetime™ or BirdsEye™ Satellite Imagery subscription
    (8 digits)
    productkeykey
Unlock Code is the one generated by Jetmouse keygen and it's 25 characters, unlock code is created basing on unit ID, which is 10-digit number that can be found in appropriate menu of GPS.

Code is the one Mapsource asks for the unlock wizard online and is 7 or 8 characters

Wow! You just cleared that up in one message! That actually makes sense.

I hate to be so stupid about this but if I can ask one more follow-up question about the important "unlock codes"? Let's say I have a map that came with the unit - say CN North America 2011.10 with it's unlock code, can I use that same unlock code with a minor update, like 2011.20? Or do I need a new unlock code? It seems like the code is tied to the specific product and year rather than the version, right? So I'd need a different code for a different year but not a different version?

Garmin makes this all so difficult. I've got two units and one has been RMA'd so that's three. Here are the "descriptions" of the maps on my manage maps page:

City Navigator North America NT 2010.10, Deluxe All Regions, Apr 09
City Navigator North America NT 2011.10, US & Canada - Limited, April 10
City Navigator North America NT 2011.10, US & Canada, April 10

Each has an unlock code. I have no idea what's different, other than the year in the first case. Anyway, sorry for ranting... it's just confusing.

Default Generating "Product Key" for Mapsource update?

How do you generate the 8 digit "Product Key" that the Mapsource update requires? I have done it before, but now I can't remember!
