...well, I am downloading as normal, and unpacking with WinRAR x64 3.90 - one odd thing I noticed is that the file extension is not *.DLC once unpacked, so maybe something wrong with the way it decompresses (no managers or accelerators used in the download). Will try a different program to unzip.

I downloaded it with IE and i had your problem, no problem with FF

how do we convert the folders and files in the winrar to a gmap file/img file much appreciated

i installed mapsource but it wont automatically recogniose the map can someone please help

use a new patched mapsource

put the folder where hulio said and unlock with jetmouse

or run the gmap unlocker before copying in your Garmin maps folder

you cant see IMG files in mapsource, if unlocked copy it directly in your gps- you can see it in an sd in basecamp if you copy it in a garmin directory, but it need a lil tweak-
run on the IMG gmaptool program ( Join option)

you'll able too see the resulting IMG in an sd in basecamp

Garmin maps with mapid 2200 or greater needs a GMA file with a digital certificate to work with MapSource 6.15.9 - 6.16.2. Otherwise it's just unlocked but not authorized.
Use a special patched MapSource v6.16.2 or some older MapSource 6.14.x - 6.15.7.

Please forgive my ignorance, I get two files gmappsupp and jvc file and when I open that path in xp and get inside the map folder itself(C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps), how do I proceed? eg do I make another folder and paste them inside similar to the other folders there eg (citynavigator gamp )etc but they seem to have more files inside the folders? any help getting into mapsource itself would be appreciated

Hi catymag,

Sorry to bother you, can please tell me what i have done wrong here (first time i try to do update the map this way)

1. I downloaded Mapsource V6.16.2. Installed ok (thank to your trick) then overwrite with patched file.
2. I the copied the updated map the folder under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps
3. Unlock the map using unlock_gmap
4. When I opened Mapsource again, i can see the Map is unlock, but i can't do anything.

You could not use gmapsupp and jcv in MapSource on PC
