    Basically correct,
I don't think that .bin file will affect your CN NA map, but I'm not sure if China map will work on device that does not have firmware which supports maps with Chinese characters (or maybe it does - you'll have to try)

As it seems text in first post could be Google translation from Chinese, so it is best it could be

I downloaded and unlocked it. It seems a little weird, I was trying to find a pretty good sized lake on it and it did not show the water as blue until I had it zoomed to .3 miles, at that point I was zoomed so close that the whole screen was the blue of the lake. I can see roads and POIs and the names of citys but no road names or addresses. I wonder if I could add a font to correct that. My phone is an HTC Vogue running MobileXT 5.00.20wp

Would entering GPS coordinates show if the offset was removed? I verified that it matches google maps.

I'll try it next week and post how it works.

    you can try this
install it to mapsource with gmaptool, point some place in Benjing, right click it and look at the same place in google maps,
venus china is corrected, no offset

So, I am in China, the map does display proper location with no offset.
The POIs do not display any information, so the map is most likely in chinese. Routing works if you can find the location on the map, no street names, but you do get directions. This is using Mobile XT.
I can not download the file from here to try the basemap that came with it and I, stupidly, did not bring the file with me. I think the host site is probably blocked/censored by the government here.

    Thanks!
I couldn't work out where the download link was on badongo, but the rs link worked.
It didn't make any differance on the road and poi names and info(phone numbers are there), but it is a bigger gmapbmap file than I started with so I'll try it in the US when I get home.
I probably need to find a chinese font for windows mobile to get them to work. I don't know chinese so it would not be of much use for me even if I did find the font.
It actually doesn't look like I will get a day off to do any exploring anyway. I will be so glad to get home and out of this heat and humidity.
