How do I download a map oCosta Rica onto a garmin c330 ? I know a guy in CR who has one on his but wants to charge me for this info

I replaced your link and file coz it contained the retailer codes
here the unlocked img
PID 10, FID 12311, Navsat Costa Rica Retail 5.07
Navsat Costa Rica 5.07 unlocked GMAPSUPP.rar (10 MB)
rename it gmapsupp.img and copy in a garmin directory

Just download unlocked IMG, unpack downloaded file with WinRar, rename file in gmapsupp.img (if needed) and copy it to \Garmin folder of your device

Thank you Midnight Blues. I am not very computer literate to fully understand how to do that. I checked out the links and it refers to Linux. I downloaded the original file on this thread and its not reading on my Windows 7. My son says I should unzip it ?

winrar is a compression decompression utility like winzip-
Unrar what you downloaded-- inside the rared files you'll find a file ,the unlocked GMAPSUPP, you can place it in your Garmin directory on GPS internal memory or in an sd- the name must be gmapsupp.img(Garmin image file- not linux-) if it's the only one you have, or gmapsup2.img if it's the second one, always in a Garmin directoryLast edited by catymag; 18th June 2010 at 02:32 PM.

it's easy, unpack, connect your gps usb, and copy the img after renaming it- no need sons lol

Its ez for you. Im used to auto run/ chug and plug downloads. All that compress and decompress stuff confuses me. In my simple world of computer knowledge. Its easy when you download and the transfer download. I wish i would have beenborn in the Internet generation....LOL
ok, I downloaded winrar and renamed the file, but it wont allow me to see it or transfer to the garmin C330 navigator. Im sorry for bugging ya'll. Im learnign alot though. Thanx againLast edited by catymag; 6th August 2010 at 02:42 AM.

Hi !!!!! I think I downloaded it successfuly onto the Garmin C330, but it wont show because it cant aquire those satellites. However, there is Costa Rica info on the Garmin. Thank you and God Bless you guys for all your kind help!!
