Default Road and Topo Map Conflict (IMG)

    Hi
I bought an Oregon 200 that came with a Canadian Topo and Road Map, i also bought US topo Map.
Everything work fine with those 2 maps... except that i love to get the road to the trails (US).

So a friend gave me a custom IMG file with the US road that need... If i upload in into my Oregon (rename gmapsupp2.img), i do get the road for both CAN and US... but i loss my Topo all together (i see some 3d topography, but no more trails)

It seems to me that the easy solution will be to load the IMG file into MapSource... but i can’t figure how.

    Thanks for your help

Please do not open new threads for questions about Garmin

If you have two maps covering same region active in unit at the same time, results could be unpredictable (unless one is transparent)
You could loose navigation, search or display could be messed up, ...
You can use them in two separate files on device, gmapsupp + gmapsup2, or gmapprom + gmapsupp, but
You should always disable one of them in settings (and use only one at time) to avoid this problems.

My question: how big are the maps? Will they fit together on a (4 GByte) Micro SD-Card?

    if yes: then it's easy.
    - Copy them on the SD-card (the Oregon 200 has no internal memory ?)
    - rename them: either gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp2.img, OR: (with firmware 3.50 ? onwards) any other name with ending .img: e.g. Topo_canada.img and Topo_US.img and US_roads.img
    - select the maps you wanna see in the Oregon menu: Setup - Map - Select map
and then enable or disable the maps.
When going on the road, enable the US roads map, and disable the Topo map. On the trail, do it vice versa: disable the road map, and enable the topo map
(disabling unused maps will also speed up the display).

This works well on my Oregon 300.

if no: then use Mapsource, as described above

    Default important Oregon firmware steps

Some more infos about actual Oregon firmware:

    Oregon 200, 300, 400

2.99, 3.01: Multi .img - support: no longer limited to 3 .img-files (gmapsupp, gmapsupp2, gmapprom.img), but the .img-files can be named individually, as long the suffix is .img. e.g.
    - Topo_canada.img
    - OSM_canada_2010.img
    - CNNTUS2010.img
    - cneunt2010-30c.img
    - ...

3.22: added Custom map - feature: by this, small pieces of raster graphics (= maps in jpg, png, bmp... format) can be shown on the Oregon.
    Especially helpful for topo maps!
Limitation: max. 100 pieces, each max. 1000*1000 pixel

3.60: the version i use on my Oregon 300. Recommended!

    Not recommended:
3.70 or 3.80: problems with maps which were unlocked with JM keygen. So these versions should be checked carefully.
Edited: it should work well with the new Garmin unlocker, described in
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Oregon 450, 550

2.20 (beginning): Multi .img - support

2.60: added Custom map - feature

    Hi,

I have a nuvi 200 and have downloaded the .img file (unlocked). However, due to the size restrictions, I am unable to load it on the unit. I get an error that says I need more space. I also tried loading in SD card. It's there, but can't be accessed from unit. Can someone please assist in getting this done? Any assistance is much appreciated.

You have to make a directory "Garmin" on your SD card and there you have to put in the map. Then choose map: Tools - Settings - Map - Map Info.
