    Hi,

If You already have installed Garmin XT on device, just download one of files with remark "unlocked" (thai or english), extract (WinZip or WinRar), rename to "gmapsupp.img" and copy to Garmin folder of device.

    That should be all

I now have both the Thailand map and the European map loaded in the internal memory of my nuvi, I have renamed one as gmapprom.img and the other as gmapprom1.img the unit does not recognize gmapsupp.img files.
My first question is If I want to load any more maps can I simply rename them gmapprom2.img, gmapprom3.img etc, etc or is it more complicated? and secondly the maps are currently in Garmin\System folder of the internal memory if I want to put maps onto an SD card should I put them into a folder named Garmin or Garmin\System.
    TIA.
The answers you have been getting are good but incomplete
Your device allows you to use any name for a map that you like boo.img hello.img etc I use ThailandV9Eng.img and IndoChina.img so I remember whats what.
You have to make a folder called map on the unit then your gmapsupp.img will work also

Not like the old nuvi's 775 255t etc yours behaves quite differently
If you used mapsource to add a map to your nuvi 1*** it would have created the map directory for you
You can add maps to Garmin folder in the system hidden area but you will be limited buy the old names and gmapsupp.img will not work there
How ever if you use the map folder your only limit is unit memory

I hope this clears up things for you and others
I think Cath will be updating the how to soon
    Happy it sunny Thailand

    thanks Thefatboy rep+

I can add : just one map per sd, if you want more than one, merge them with gmaptool --max 4 gb

You have to navigate to get to the good.

    Thefatboy......Thanks

I have been using the V10 map for a few weeks now and for navigating it works fine but there is an obvious problem with the search facility, so I would also like to install the V9 map.
My problem is I can't find an unlocked No Pain version I only have the locked version. Can anyone talk me through how to unlock the map for use on my nuvi 1340T bearing in mind that I am a real novice.

    TIA.

The ver 10 also tells you to hold right everytime there is an exit to the frontage roads in Bangkok !
It is very anoying to listen to, so i reinstalled Ver 9, that works good, i had gone from Phuket to Khon Khaen several times and some other trips as well, only a few bugs, as it want you to drive over Ranong instead of Surat Thani etc. !
So stay on 9 untill they make it better.

Dont want to be deleted as I have only just joined so here is a post

Thanks for the links to V10 but I am in two minds with the views above whether to install it or not as at the moment I am using V9 and it works reasonably well apart from trying to put me in the odd paddy field at times One specific is the Eastern ring road round Saraburi ( a newish road)
