I'm new the GARMIN and how it all works. I have the UK map file, changed the name, put it into the SD card in a folder GARMIN but I can't see the map anywhere. The decvice I am using is a etrex Legend HC. Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong

which name have you used to rename it? in sd should be gmappsup.img (in a Garmin folder)
one gmapsupp.img per sd ,two arent supported

Thanks. Is it gmappsup or gmapsupp as both are referenced. Also on the SD card I have one folder called GARMIN in which the map is stored. Is this correct because at the moment my hand held etrex HC isn't recognising anything other than the onboard base map. Should I use a tool to load the map?
