Default Which is better garmin or Mio?

Which is better between the 2 in the lower priced models?
Which would you suggest and why?
    Especially for use in Thailand.

I prefer to use my brain and an old-fashioned map for navigation but if I had to choose one of those i'd definately go with Mio. As for which model, I really don't have an answer. It depends on what features are you going to need. I would choose one with pretty basic features. One with bluetooth propably because the features that use your phones internet are pretty useful sometimes. Other features are rather pointless because they are the same that are found on most peoples phones.

Having now used both my brain, and a GPS for extensive driving in Thailand, the GPS wins 99% of the time. Navigating the Bangkok freeway system with a map is not to be recommended.
I have a Garmin 260, and am very happy with it. The voice announced street names feature is particularly handy if you normally wear glasses for reading ie you may have trouble getting a clear read of the GPS screen.
If and when I get a new GPS it will probably be a wide (4.3") screen, making it a bit easier to read, and with more detail.

I wouldn't recommend you buy the unit in Thailand. They are very expensive here - at least 50% higher than Australia for example.

I'm a Newbie, but in the market for my first GPS unit for TH & US. Shame that this thread seems to be in a state of hibernation (or worse!). Hence this short message to see if anything stirs .... Regards

    Garmin only runs Garmin maps.
Mio can run Garmin and many others.

    For me both are good.
