Default Garmin Voice files thread ,official and customized

I have read on many forums that some of us are looking for the Female English voice for the Nokia Maps as currently only Male English (UK and US male voice) voices are provided/available.

I guess for obvious reasons - that some of us might find the female voice more appealing ...

So ... to do that -
    1. download the attachment english_female.rar
    2. Unrar the english_female.rar into a new directory of your choice (for example c:\temporary123) - you should now see a new directory in your chosen directory called english_female so the directory structure would be:c:\temporary123\english_female you should see many voice files in this directory such as g5unt_004e, g5unt_004 etc...
    3. connect your nokia phone to your pc and choose Data Transfer mode
    4. use a file manager and open the nokia storage drive
    5. open the "cities" folder
    6. In the cities folder you should see the various voice directories that you have downloaded from Nokia so in my case I had two directories: english and english_us (the 1st is UK eng and the latter is US eng)
    7. The easy way to switch to female voice is to overwrite one of the english directories with the female voice
    8. So... I decided that I don't need the UK english and therefore opened the english directory
    9. in the directory you will see another directory called english_male
    10. open the english_male directory
    11. you will see many voice files such as g5serv_004 etc...
    12. Copy all the female voice files from the c:\temporary123\english_female directory that you created in step 2 above into the english_male directory of step 10 above overwriting the files as you copy.
    13. You are done.
    14. Now you can disconnect your phone, start the Nokia Maps application go to options-->tools--->settings--->navigation--->voice guidance and choose English
    15. If you followed the above steps correctly - you should now have female voiced navigation.

Note: doing the above - you will of course lose the male uk english voice files and therefore will not be able to have male uk voice guidance. You can backup the files in the directory before executing step 11 above and restore the files whenever you want the male uk english voice back or you can simply use the nokia map downloader to download the english voice back. Quite easy.

This one is for garmin. I don't think you'll find it anywhere else!

Unrar, put it in to your garmin voices directory and rename it to the same name as one of the pre-installed voices; eg english_british.vpm.

    Its the borat voice!:D

There have been a few requests recently for voice files for garmin.

Voice files are normally stored E:\Garmin\VOICE

I have attached the individual .vpm files that I have.

I have uploaded them as individual files so that you only need to download the relevant files.

MODS - feel free to adapt, remove, alter as you deem necessary

    found some more, including arabic:D

,...... sorry mods but the system wouldnt allow me to add more to the original post

Suppose should have another file? .sum?

there are ONLY voice files in the voice folder on my N95 8GB.

You then need to open Garmin/tools/settings/audio/click on voice and then highlight the required language, click done

No! After I copy the files into my nuvi, my garmin totally can't start and always auto restart.

only some and depends on the version of software you install.

Take a look at the list here and compare with what you have.

Most folks only need ONE language and you can delete all the ones from your phone that are NOT required by you.

Only British and American English appears in the tools>setting>audio>voice. I've installed cantonese and Simplified Chinese but I don't see them in the above menu.
