    It looks like the November 2017 firmware update for all garmin marine devices puts a 90 day expiration date on unlocked maps.

    Is there any more news on it?

    Is there anyone that has the update firmware file saved from before november 2017? The last update I have is from 2014.

    Has anyone had any luck in defeating the newest protection scheme ?

    There are several improvements the latest firmware will give me, but at the same time, it will lock my maps. Not good.

    Help please!

    Does anyone one know how to download a copy of the XML file from my Garmin GPSMAP8212 plotter to an SD card?

    The 8212 doe not have any USB ports or other connections to allow me to look at the internal files.

    Everything is done using SD Cards and the Card reader.

    I keep putting in a blank SD card into the card reader, but the XML file that is loaded onto the SD card is the XML file for the READER.... NOT the chartplotter.

    Any suggestions?????

    Yes the link is real and it's still OK. Try to use any adblock app.

    Zippyshare used to have "unwanted" newtab open when clicked (even with ad blocker on). It's no longer doing that.
    Now 1fichier does it. It's the ads that "bad", so just close the newtab ASAP and no problem.

    I got the file in the end from 1fichier.

    Now I have the file I have run it and it has prepared an SD card.

    When I put the SD card into my GPS map system nothing happens.

    What am I supposed to do? I read somewhere about replacing the GCD file, but I'm not sure that's what I should do. I cannot connect to the GPSmap system with a PC as most of the guides seem to be focused on this method.

    What we really need is for someone to figure out how to actually defeat the new protection scheme.

    There are several new features and enhancements in the new software that I want.
