Can anyone help me downgrade my Nuvi 2699?
It did come with 7.5 and I did upgrade it to 7.7
I did find a file gupdate.gcd in the .system folder, so I deleted it and copyed 5.3 file to that folder and gave it gupdate.gcd name.
Does not work, so I tried to move it to Garmin folder, not helping.

PS the link to garmin does not give any file, so they could be removed, only perry worked.

Try (If the device works as older):
    1) connects the nuvi to your PC
    2) copy&paste or drag&drop the file *.gcd (or *.rgn) in to icon of Web Updater (better if in Desktop)
    3) unlink the device and restart
    4) click YES to downgrade

Thanks Roger, that helped me so that I could downgrade it.
I tried nearly all 26x9 version found here:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
But only C4 version seems to work, and I can not get 630 nor 530 to work.
When GPS start with these version touch display does not work,
and I am not able to select language. The lowest version that work is 7.30

Do you know what it different from C4 and not C4 version?

None of the version I tried does work with gimgunlock - mapsigpatch
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I have tried both Topo maps (locked) and CN South America.

Here is the output of gimgunlock:

Please read [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], in particular:
It unlocks NT (not NTU) IMGs in some 2014 devices, but not working with all new devices 2xx9 and probably in most of newer devices firmware
That post #256 is also very prominently reproduced in the initial post of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

26x9 C4 fw is for your HWID 1948, the other fw [here in this thread] is for HWID 1772.

    26x9 HWID 1948 C4 is available here:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
    or from Perry site:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
EDIT: C4 Version HWID 1948 details now have been added to initial post.

    Thanks Neil.
I have HwID 1948 according to the xml file, C4 should be correct then.
But since its not possible to unlock map for it, I will stay on latest firmware and use OpenStreetMaps when I am outside Europe.
Patching fw to use unlocked maps is now possible: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
