I am very lucky to be the proud owner of a new Prado, I thought I may be able to help you guys with the latest version of the map.
However on putting my address in at the dealers to drive home, I found that my street was not shown on the map. I have lived there for two years!!
Looking at the "about" in the navigation software which is on a micro SD card it dates from early 2014, this is on a brand new car manufactured in September 2015.
I will be complaining bitterly and post the response from Toyota.
Although I have a bit of experience with many different types of GPS this is my first time with this system. I see that the SD card contains licence files and a quick clone to another SD card seems to work perfectly, but I assume that an updated map must need an updated licence or way around it???

Edit: sorry may have got this totally wrong as on looking deeper the maps are iGO

Does it work in another Toyota though or have you only tried the 'cloned' card in the same Prado? Unfortunately from what i know from elsewhere sometimes there is specific vehicle info written to the protected PROM on the card, this Mazda thread has more info on that in my Post #4: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. In that case even copied cards don't work in the original vehicle.

Thanks Neil, I had only tried the copied micro SD in the same vehicle, in fact I am doubting that I even had success with this as after updating the maps on the cloned card it had stopped working giving message "check card"
I have since formatted it and copied again from the original but with the same result so unfortunately it looks like even a direct copy will not work in the same vehicle as you suggest in the other posts.
I can remember copying several Garmin SD card G2 vision maps, this involves as I am sure you know finding the hidden card number of the original card. Presumably the Toyota system uses even more security than this?

Edit I am reluctant to try updating the maps on the original card as waiting to hear back from the dealer about getting an up to date genuine card, the one I have supplied with a brand new car built in Sept 15 is 2013 Q4. The dealer says the whole Toyota range is like this !

My MY10 Subaru bought in Feb 10 had V15 Sensis mapping which has the same maps as the UBD from 2008. They proudly proclaimed that right there on the disc label, albeit in small print. Your Toyota dealer is probably not snowing you in that case, but maybe will do something about it if you jump up and down politely.

Yes I am sure they will eventually, however I would like to get to the bottom of this, for instance is it just that another card cannot be used in the system or is there security preventing the update of maps (which are here on the forum) from being added and/or substituted on the original card?

I think it's both. Indelibly written to the protected PROM is specific information about the vehicle and no doubt it's map data entitlement. I am guessing a little, but it's probably done with a similar tool as mentioned for HDD and SSD units, here in Post #10 for HDD: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and later in that thread somewhere for SSD. There's also a good chance that they don't bother updating the current card at all, and the Dealer orders them from Toyota Japan after giving them the specific vehicle details.

Short answer, dunno! We're quite OT with this here, so open a help request thread separately if you want but i don't really expect you'll get any encouraging answers at this time unfortunately sorry.

Fake or not it's not showing any active seeders for me. All connected peers show 0.0%. Did you get all of it Sherms?

If there's enough of us, could all chip-in for the official DVD and go from there?
