The screens are too small and low-res for me to read properly and it looks like you're on the right track but you can select just the iso to start the burn, the mds may not be needed depending on the burner/settings. Just to be sure, go to the ImgBurn help site and check what you're wanting to do there:

GPS Map is burnt and works on both my 2007 Sienna and 2007 ES350.
I will run the cars tomorrow and see if there is any problems.
Thank you so much for your help.

I picked ISO file and ImgBurn converted it to MDS file automatically.
The GPS works fine except there is no Lexus logo when the car is started...which is totally fine with me.
Is there bypass or override for this version?
It would be nice to be able to enter address while the car is in motion.

Thank you so much for your patience to help me.

NP, happy to help any US citizen anytime. I've always been treated very well in the States [even if they can't understand me when i talk quick and worse, much worse, think i'm english half the time ].

As to the absence of a logo, i can't explain that because i know nothing about the NA-specific firmware. I'm familiar with the Dayton VDO and Denso units used in many cars here in Australia, but all of them have their splash screen info permanently in non-vol memory as a separate item to the unit software [firmware] written to volatile memory from the OEM map data disc. So here, we can load a Toyota Whereis C1 map disc [with software] to a Lexus and it will update the unit's software but leave the boot splash screen unaffected [and vice versa - Lexus to Toyota], even early Subaru and all Tribeca models which have a C1 unit will still show the Subi start screen with a Toyota sw disc loaded. Same for C2 Denso units: Mitsubishi, recent Subaru, Mazda. They all retain their individual logo even if loaded with one of the others' oem discs.

Nobody has done such a workaround for the firmware here in Oz so you can enter on the go. If anyone in US has managed it i would also be very keen to find out about it, but only to see how it's done in case the patch can be transplanted to AU software. A word of warning though, there was serious talk here that doing it would void your insurance if it was shown that you caused a prang while using the keyboard in motion ... dunno about the States though. We aren't even allowed to TOUCH a mobile [cell] phone while driving, even while stopped at a red and they'll throw the book at you for actually speaking on it.

FYI, this worked fine in Mac OS X just using Disk Utility and burning a DVD+R DL at 2.4x speed. YMMV.

Thanks for the updated map. Tried a u38 (13.1) and it only succeeded in updating the nav software when first putting it in then it couldn't read the "map data". What's worse is I could no longer use the 10.1 map copy that I was previously using since putting in the "upgrade". I hope I have better luck with this update.

Quick update for everyone still having trouble getting these maps to load on a gen 5 prius. I have a 2008 prius with original u32, ver 7.1 map (gen 5). I had been using a burned 10.1 map disk for the last few years until yesterday. As in previous post I had first tried upgrading with a toyota u38, map ver 13.1 disk which once inserted, a short loading update screen came up then gave an error loading data map message. Making things worse, I tried putting the previously working 10.2 dvd in and it no longer work giving the same error message. Thinking that the 13.1 copy I was using was a bad copy, I came across this very informative forum and download link to u39/14.1 gen5. I downloaded and burned a copy following previous posts (lowest burn speed, book type dvd-rom, etc). Unfortunately it still did not work, giving the same error message. Searched the internet and the funny thing is, there seems to be little info on updating the 2008 prius with a burned / backup disk. So with a little luck and info building "hybrid disks", I tried to replace the 14.1 LOADING.KWI file with the one from my original u32/7.1 disk. Burned a disk and tried it. At first it still gave the error, but then I realized that the dvd player must still have the previous version kiwi file loaded. Info on the net for most cars was to remove fuse or battery cable for 5 minutes but, this can be tricky in a prius. The easiest way I found was to simply remove the power cables from the back of the dvd player (on 2008 prius this is under the front driver's seat). Lo and behold, it finally works. Checking map data on info screen does say 14.1 and everything appears to work. Will update if anything changes...

Want to try to make a hybrid 5.1/14.1 disk and see if the old bypass will also work.. Will keep everyone informed.

Thanks for reporting that Denso/VDO Dayton dvd unit quirk in this thread. Perhaps you'd be good enough to make a rar or zip copy of the OEM disc's LOADING.KWI and upload it in case other users might need it?

I wasn't aware that it hadn't been posted for US Denso units that the unit software/firmware [aka LOADING.KWI on map discs] is held in volatile memory. There's good and bad in that design, good because if the fw becomes corrupt and won't accept an overwrite from an OEM disc with complete fw then it's easy to first 'wipe' the corruption by disconnecting power for several minutes, exactly as you have done to then write back a good copy. But bad because if you don't have an OEM disc then a simple vehicle battery change is enough to delete it from vol memory. It's been well reported for Denso units, both in AU C1 Toyota and AU C2 Subaru/Mitsubishi/Mazda threads in this forum that it happens like that. Map update discs also have a much smaller LOADING.KWI on them, most seem to be only tiny fixes or patches of an incremental type which can't of course replace the entire unit firmware and naturally won't even load if the complete firmware is missing.

My Lexus is 2008 RX400h and still have original map since I bought it brand new. Download from post#2 onedrive link. Only download the files for U39 files (8files) and extract with 7zip. First I copy and paste the password directly from the post and showing wrong password or check sum file corrupt something like that. And finally I typed the password my self and wow it happening and I got xxxxx.iso file. I just put DVD double-layer disk and use Image burn software (freeware) and burned it. After that take out my original DVD and replace with burnt DVD ( You have to start the car to take out the disk). First black screen and white vertical lines pop up a few second and next uploading the map. 100% finish and wow there is a map. My home location is still there ( I read it somewhere said after uploaded your home and other previous location are gone). But default map zone was somewhere in mid state, so I have to change to my area.

Thank you so much nav141 for the file upload.

G'day Nootha, welcome to GPS Power.

Copy/paste of password can often result in a problem particularly if a space or carriage return is accidentally included.

You didn't lose your home location or other info you saved because the unit wasn't powered down. As i mentioned in the post above yours, if it's disconnected from the vehicle power supply even for a very short time it loses it's volatile memory. That results in a complete reset to factory settings and a loss of the firmware [unit software]. In that case an OEM disc has to be re-inserted to write back the firmware or the nav unit won't work, so keep the original disc in a safe place just in case. Once the fw has been reloaded, a 'map data-only' disc can again be used. If you need change the vehicle battery, you can safeguard against data/fw loss by connecting a slave battery to the terminal leads while doing the changeover but be very careful to not cause arcing.
