What's the difference between "Download", "Download Torrent", and "Direct Download"?

Not sure if you're referring to the page in the link i gave, but i'll assume you are:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I don't know for sure [don't like clicking all over those unknown pages] but my best guess is that of the clickable links, [1] leads to their torrent index and [3] is a search link to similar/same torrent files maybe internal or external. All i know for sure is that [2] will get you the torrent file '[TorrentDownloads.me]_Whereis v20 Toyota Australia - NZ 2014.torrent' and it works fine. I think that site is relatively benign compared to some torrent sites around [brrrr!], but click the other links if you want, i'm pretty sure that's where they'll lead you [your risk though].

Yes Neil, I am using that page too. I have picked the no. 2 link you highlighted and am using uTorrent to download it, looks like it will take a while as I'm only at 2.4% so far.

    For 464210.2310.ISO it's 1C0D759F2F1C719481275EC1902BE4FA. For the MDS file it's DF124FFADBD7B1E71890697070BD68E7.

Bugger! I get a match on the MDS file but not on the downloaded ISO. Where did you get the checksum info from?

I use Hash Tab [shell extension]. It's free for personal use.
    Code:

Well that's odd! With HashTab I get the same value you quoted for the ISO file but with MD5 MDS Checker I get something completely different. Maybe the latter tool only works on MDS files?

Beats me. I'm no IT boffin, but to me a hash check should be the same for any file no matter what tool is used to calculate it, whether it's MD*, SHA-*, CRC* or any of the others as that's the whole purpose, to have an individual 'digital fingerprint' if you like. Even a single byte of change in a file will cause a mis-match in hashes. Yes, MD5 Checker only generates MD5 hashes but I get the same MD5 with both tools anyway:

Looks like you are using a different version of MD5 Checker to me, the one I have is a freeware version and looks like this :-

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The screenshot shows the results I get when checking the ISO file.

ETA: Found the utility you used and get the same results now, weird!

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Can't figure out how to do a compare on a previously saved checksum but the values for both files looks the same as yours to me.
