Got me a double layer DVD+R and burned the .iso file onto it and it all works OK
I used ImgBurn 2.5.6.0 and it started by complaining that the layer break it got from the MDS file was not on a correct boundary.
I manually set it to 1261456 as it suggested and then there were no other problems.
As with the previous map updates, the map data is about a year old and I see that the Tullamarine freeway still shows old entry and exit ramps

    ?

So will this work in a 2010 Prado?

Do these read DL layer DVD's?

My car is Toyota Camry Azura 2002 model (MCV36R). This downloading took nearly 12 hours (Used bittorrent client SW). Since this doesn't fit for DVD+R single layer, I burned in to Dual Layer DVD at 4X speed, which took nearly 5 hours. Once I try in my car, it said "No Map data". Since my car is older, it couldn't read DL DVD(I guess). Then I burned into DVD-R normal one with "poweriso" burner (which can be downloaded) after removing "LOADING.KWI". Burning with poweriso at 16x speed (default) took only 5 minutes to burn. Some people recommended low speed burning, else DVD won't work. Mine fine. It's working perfectly. I can recommend this for 02-06 model cars as they may not read Double Layer DVD. If anyone can identify New Zealand map data and delete it, then no need to delete "LOADING.KWI" file. I already used V19 map which got same size "LOADING.KWI" file which is loaded into car-GPS computer memory once you put new MAP update. This file needs to run the base SW which is always store in the GPS system memory. Cheers

    --------------------

Just deleted the MDS file. Use ImgBurn to select the ISO file and 'write to disc' using a DVD+R DL (Dual Layer) disc. Works 100% on 2008 Kluger Grande

    --------------------

Open file in Power.iso Remove the file called LOADING.KWI from within power.iso. If you don't then you will install update only. After this is done, using power.iso burn the remaining files on a SINGLE LAYER DVD. It should work, it did for me.

Should do Sherms. Terry Dactil has a Prius i think and the DL disc works for him so all recent Toyota DVD Denso units should read DL.

Jeez Sherms! I'm only stupid, not freakin' BLIND! Oh, wait ... that's you wot's blind 'cos Terry already told us what he used, DVD+R DL........ btw, DVD+RW SL works for C2 units with the smaller C19: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. You wanna risk a DVD-R DL and report back?

Interesting that you have had success with DVD+RW if that's what you mean, or do do you mean you had to then burn a DVD-R to get a working copy?

    @Scherlock
DVD+R, DVD-R and DVD+RW are not treated equally by either C1 and/or C2 Denso/VDO Dayton units as proven. +R doesn't work by numerous reports [C1/C2], -R does for sure [C1/C2], +RW does in C2 by several reports including me, and now +R DL does for C1, but -R DL is still unreported for either.

Below is Siganid's answer in Nov 13 to my query you've quoted where i was wanting to confirm if he used DVD+RW directly or just as an interim media. My mention of +R not working was stating categorically that media doesn't work, wasn't a question. It's now fully confirmed that +RW does work for C2 late-model units both Mitsi & Subi.

No worries and thanks for linking it to the OP. Yea, I was pleasantly surprised when the DVD+RW media worked, mostly because all my other RW media had died of old age, plus I could be sure the V19 C2 iso worked in my MMCS without wasting a -R disc. I only made the -R copy so I can use the +RW disc for other things. Maybe, as you said, good quality media (and a slow burn) makes all the difference.
Maybe the 'compatibility' problem is in part that [afaik] DVD+RW actually preceded DVD+R into common use. This may explain why +RW works but +R doesn't in C2 units. Doesn't explain the +R DL working in C1 though, particularly if C1 preceded C2 units. Maybe -R DL works like -R & +R DL in C1 Toyota, but i can't test that however you can. Hence my request that you risk one [i'll send a dollar to your PP account if it doesn't ].

As to the other post you've quoted, I stand by my statement that all Toyota DVD units use C1 [all to date anyway]. Forby's later post confirms that the C1 worked:

So that's what i'm talkin' 'bout Arnold! I think so anyway, but it's getting confusing now .... lemme think ... both C1 & C2 use -R but not +R, C1 can use +R DL dunno about C2, C2 can use +RW dunno .......... Ah, t'hell widdit, i'm off to make a coffee. But first a bex and a lie-down.

Ok, so DVD+R DL will work without modifying the ISO?

    Using PowerISO v6...
