Greetings to everyone who contributed to this thread

Just wanted to add that you only need to download 1 x copy of the ISO from Uploaded.net 4,558MB. The moderators note says "in 11 parts". I actually downloaded all 11 of exactly the same file (Talk about a seniors moment,

To help anyone still with questions, below is a copy and paste of instruction written by my good friend JC

    ********************************

After downloading Map Image Iso, use Iso Master to open image and remove New Zealand map data:

    IDX\POISR008.IDX - NORTH ISLAND - 215MB*
    IDX\POISR009.IDX - SOUTH ISLAND - 81MB*
    * (may be slightly different in size)

Then use ImgBurn to burn the image to single layer DVD.

When disc is placed in cd map drive, unit may say "disc not readable" wait for a few seconds and unit will reboot, then the new .KWI file will be installed in GPS memory.
Unit will then restart and bring up new map data.

    *****************************************

This was for my 2010 Camry, and how good is it going from V16 to V20 in 1 hit.....

Thanks again to all contributors and the link to the download.

    Ross & JC

G'day rossstewart, welcome to GPS Power.

You must mean you downloaded all the rar parts 11 times i guess which would be quite well over 50GB. Actually, the 'in 11 rar parts' was a typo, it's 12 parts all up, 11 of 400MB and the 12th of 157.17MB making ~4558MB all up.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

When extracted the ISO file is 4,779,573,248 bytes [~4.78GB or ~4.45GiB] which is of course why it won't fit 'as is' on a 4.7GB [~4.38GiB] SL DVD. Tip for removing the POIs to allow it to fit is also quoted in the initial post [trannhan81] but it is risky to use the DVD as also described without LOADING.KWI because of the risk of a power-down wiping the volatile memory and the unit's firmware with it. Full LOADING.KWI is needed on the disc to re-write it. The method you describe is better as there is never a need to have the AU POIs in a Kiwi car or the NZ ones in an Oz car.
    Thanks for your post.

I'm trying to update the maps in my friends 2007 Subaru Liberty. I've downloaded the ISO from the torrent, used poweriso to remove the NZ files, and burnt to a single layer DVD. When attempting to update the nav system it says "Please insert proper disc".
    Any ideas?

G'day panicpaint [interesting choice of nick, story there i guess ]. Welcome to GPS Power.

As you can see in the quote above, 2008 is 'no-man's land' in terms of the Whereis Denso units. It's unclear if the switch to C2 from C1 disc usage was done with MY08 [which are from the mid-late 2007 release date until MY08 a year later], or with MY09 [which are from the mid-late 2008 release date until MY10 a year later]. You may be able to solve the puzzle for us. Some things to try if you want before you download the C2 disc from the above link: Re-burn with a different burner, different brand SL disc and lowest possible speed; or re-burn the full ISO to a DL disc.

Please post again if you work it out to let us know what works or just if you need more general help.

Haha sadly the story behind my nick isn't that interesting. I need a new username and a website suggested PanicPaintbrush, and I was like "Yeah that's not too bad". That was too long for this forum though so I just shortened it.

I first tried Verbatim DVD+R RW SL, and now I've just tried TDK DVD+R DL (with the full image and changed Layer Break). So now I'll try a different burner and see if the C2 image works. The Subaru website says it needs C1 but it could be wrong. I'll let you know what I find out.

Ok, thank you for the report. You could also try a DVD-R SL with either C1 or C2.

BTW, does the Subi site say 2008 [ambiguous] needs C1 or MY08 [unambiguous] needs C1. 2008 covers both the end run of MY08 [started in 2007] and the start run of MY09.

Well for the 2008 Liberty it says to use a C1 disc.

Still having trouble getting my friend's 2007 Liberty Satnav working. All the discs we've tried have had the same error. (Error; System is unable to access the program. [Please insert proper disc])
I found one forum that suggests the problem isn't that we don't have the right disc, but that the original disc (v13) needs to be inserted first to install the correct software. (If you reset the system is loses all the data)
Does anyone have a copy of the v13 subaru disc?

Maybe i just wasn't clear enough. You friend's '2007' could be either MY07 [if purchased early 2007] or MY08 if purchased later in 2007. Subi typically release the following model year vehicles [MY] in mid-year the year before. Saying '2008' could refer to either MY07 or MY08 therefore.

The only way to lose the system software [firmware] is to power down the headunit for a few minutes or more. The firmware is written to volatile memory and so will be lost without power. It seems to be 'kept alive' for a little while maybe by a charged capacitor. It seems a kooky design on the surface, but in fact it's an easy way to wipe corrupt firmware from the unit and it is then easily replaced by inserting an 'OEM' disc with the full 'LOADING.KWI' fw file on it. It doesn't need to be the version supplied with the vehicle, any version OEM disc will do. Anecdotal evidence seems to indicate the V20 CI posted in this thread is an OEM disc with full firmware on it, but if your friend's 2008 hasn't had an extended power-down [battery change will do it], the original fw is still in volatile memory anyway. Try the C2 version now is my instinct.
