The factory Jap disc was there, i have just ejected it and will keep in case it will be required. Hopefully not.
So now i'm trying to figure out how to get to the service menu and get the rest of the unit to english, without paying excessive amounts.

    hi theunknownas

I tried your method but when I inserted the DVD I couldn't search nor could I select the search area, but the map did come up.

Any ideas what may have caused this or is this expected behaviour?

    Cheers.

BTW I'm using DVD -R SL discs to burn to.

G'day rustyjarz, welcome to GPSPower. What did you remove from the iso file to re-make it small enough to burn to SL disc?

    Hi Neil,

I followed 2 suggestions below. Both pretty much produced the same result.

What I did when burning the disc is to extract the ISO contents, move the said files out, and create a data project in my burning SW i.e. I didn't make a new ISO I just burnt the files direct. (I'm using Ubuntu too).

I'm considering a DL DVD but I'm unsure if the '08 Lexus IS250 supports DL DVDs.

Thank you so much for sharing this, especially Neil!! Upgrading from V10 to V20 is like a miracle to me. I can not wait to share with you guys what I have done.
The DVD works perfectly for my Toyota Kluger Grande 2005, I also had a workaround for the LOADING.KWI file. These are what I have done from the information gathered in this thread:
    1. Download the "Whereis v20 Toyota Australia - NZ 2014" iso file from the shared torrent. This file can not be burned to a normal 4.7GB DVD as it is too large and people have suggested to remove the file LOADING.KWI, it is OK but we can do a little bit more than that.
    2. Use PowerISO to open the iso file (Original) and remove the LOADING.KWI and save it as new iso file 1. (PowerISO was shared by someone in this thread, thanks for that!).
    3. Use ImgBurn to write that new iso file 1 to a DVD+R 4.7GB at x4 rate (called DVD 1 without LOADING). (Free at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ])
    4. Again, use PowerISO to open the iso file (Original) and remove the file POISR001.IDX (in the IDX forder, I guess it stores points of interest) and save it as new iso file 2.
    5. Use ImgBurn to write that new iso file 2 to another DVD+R 4.7GB at x4 rate (called DVD 2 without POI).
    6. Put the "DVD 2 without POI" in the car first, it loads contains in (as the LOADING.KWI is in there) and works perfectly. However some POIs might be missing.
    7. Replace DVD 2 by "DVD 1 without LOADING", as the loading has been done before, this DVD just works seamlessly without missing anything!!

    Cheers
    and...

You need to remove ~80MB to fit on a SL DVD, in my case I removed both NZ files and all is good. This way you can leave LOADING.KWI, and unless you car travel's across the pond you'll never notice.

This works on an 06 Prius. Burned at my minimum of 2.4x with the layer break 1261456.

Make sure the file you downloaded fully downloads, I wasted all day trying to write a corrupted file. You can see this in the file properties, check the file size compared to the "size on disk".

    Thanks guys

    Thanks coolrabbit

You mentioned this works on your Prius, but you didn't actually say exactly what worked. Single Layer, Dual Layer. or something different again.

It will surely work on DVD+R DL, its been reported that DL will work in earlier C1 Toyota head units [see coolrabbit's post above for example].

    Thumbs up

I just followed the instructions and burnt it to a double sided DVD as is and it worked on a 2012 Prado without issue!
