Of the others with VDO Dayton/Denso, we already know that all Toyota/Lexus and the earlier Subaru models use C1, and all Mitsubishi and the late models of Subaru use C2. It would also be good to have a clear year date when Subi changed from C1 to C2.

Self extracting, so download all parts then run V18_ISO.part01.exe to get the image.
I used ImgBurn to create the files, so there is also an MDS file to use if you are using ImgBurn to make the ISO.

... and here are the changed files made by the update from V17.

Everyone remember that this is only a data update...
...so keep your original disc as it has the OS files on it!

ISO file to be image burned to single layer DVD-R (do not use +R).

I used the IMAGE burn settings on a portable Nero Burning ROM 11.2.4.100 Multilanuage (27.76 MB) to make the DVD.

I used the very slowest burn speed x4 to guarantee a error free burn.

    erjynp

    i38okm

... I just ejected the old OS disk (keep as it contains required OS files) and placed the new burn disc into the dash console.

It took about 45 seconds to load and it works perfectly!

I have below the installation flash video from the Whereis site for the terminally confused ->

From what I remember C1 and C2 are for Redline and non-Redline determinations.

I've got this for a 2009 Prado and so I've gone for C2 as it was the same thing last update.

Heck even if I get it wrong I still save $300!

    Keep the original OEM disc!

I had to replace the car battery.

Afterwards, with my burnt v18 map disc installed, the Sat Nav had some message about needing software.

So I swapped v18 for the original OEM disc and it loaded what I can only assume was the core OS files for the Nav.

After it had finished I was able to put the burnt v18 disc back in.

    Disconnecting the battery
    - the system must hold some information in volatile memory
    - if the car loses all power, this info is lost.

This must include something relating to the Firmware that drives the Nav.

The firmware is OEM and only on the OEM disc.

This is why you need to insert the OEM disc after loss of power.

For any ppl out there with Toyotas - the C1 will work in Toyota Camry + Kluger, not certain about the other models but pretty confident it'll work too.

For Mitsubishi - the C2 disc will be required.

The official designation of this update is called "2012 TOYOTA LEXUS Subaru Mitsubishi DENSO v18" so it should work on any of the listed brands
not certain about which particular edition though as it's only tested with the 3 brands above.

I've also looked into both ISO files and here's what I know of the 2 different editions
    C1's VERSION.TXT shows "COMMENT=ver.R18_V7;" with modified date of 3rd May 2012.
    ISO file is 3.74GB

    C2's VERSION.TXT shows "COMMENT=2011 ver.1;: with modified date of 4th July 2011.
    ISO file is 3.07GB

Seems like C1 is the newer version:

Toyota was also telling me that the C1 has now got a new OSD of the current vehicle speed which is not evident in the C2 edition.

For more detailed spin and marketing bluff on this update download this BS PDF -

I currently use Version 17 C1 and compared it with the Version 18 C1 download. They are exact, apart from the Version Text saying it was Version 18. As a matter of fact, I was able to amend the version to what ever I wanted and save it. Can anyone confirm that this is definitely the Version 18 C1, and if so how can I prove it? Cheers

Well that's easy! Go out and buy it ($295 AUD), then you won't need to f##k around with forums like this!

Ppl, this expensive and very hard to find map is here just for you and is completely free!
If you have a problem with it then count yourself very lucky it was free!

The files were sourced from a Toyota rep, beyond that who knows!

    I'm just the messenger...
