    @L0ST
    G'day mate, welcome to the party. Nice initial post and bloody good advice and illustrative explanation. I agree, Scherms has done a great job posting this, and a great job steering the thread thru the shoals and most people by this time would have a working disc. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and you've now effectively explained why. Dunno if he's 'a bloody legend' or deserves 'respect' though.... oh, alright, OK, let's give him that too.
    PS: Your attachments have died. Maybe you didn't actually insert them after you uploaded them, they expire within an hour if you don't. Maybe reup them if you want but I think we get the 'fuzzier image' analogy anyway. Cheers.

    @everybody
    For the Subi premium model owners:
    A bit more on the problem that Schermann pointed out in regard to the disc loading of the MacIntosh system. Here's the illustration from the manual Page 34:

    discloading

    The pic is only applicable to the standard model, although it follows immediately on from the premium model pages explanation as if it applies to it also, without any attempt to differentiate between the two models or or give any guide as to how to get the MacIntosh panel off. I've also found that as well as the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] described by Schermann to pry up under the panel, using your thumb nail or a plastic tool of some kind will get it off by gently but firmly lifting the cover at either end. The thumb nail works fine, but i also used a disposable picnic knife. Don't use anything metal or you'll damage the cover or it's surround. Keep your other hand over the cover to catch it as it flicks off.

    They are for 2 different types of car satnav systems. Some brands (eg Subaru have used both, initially c1 compatible systems, now c2). Don't ask me what the technical differences are, but feature wise, the c1's display speeds and the current c2 doesn't for instance.

    C1 display speeds? I don't think so. Just found out that the V18 C1 does not include AIRPORT LINK in Brisbane area.

    I was just quoting the guru Harry, I don't have a C1 disc or unit to check, but i do trust Schermann. Although that info was relayed in here by him in good faith, it did came from someone in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. In any case the OSD speed was supposed to have been introduced in the V18 C1 so if it's not on a C1 disc that you have, do what Terry Dactil did and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you got yours elsewhere and you find that you do have a genuine C1 V18 you will earn plenty of friends by uploading it to ZippyShare or AnonFiles and posting the link here, with or without speed OSD.....

    Sorry Harry, but 'cos i've had to spend time answering you i've gotta say this: Reading the entire thread would have told you all of the above info and therefore you haven't read it, 'coz you would not have made that post if you had read it. There were only 7 pages to wade thru, and regardless it always pays to read the entire thread however long it is before you post. I've found that out the hard way .

    Thanks for you reply.

    As there were discussing about if it is a C18, I think the Airport link is not available in the disc strongly proves it is not a genuine new update without comparing files date and hash.

    @harry527
    Yes, but we don't need the absence of the Airport Link to prove that the C1 posted here is really not V18. In fact the absence of it is totally explainable in both V17 & V18 and means absolutely nothing. Even the genuine C2 V18 doesn't have the airport link. It's not in the Sensis/Whereis list of the major new roads included in V18 anyway, for a start. The full list for all AU is in Post #1 and i've partially quoted Qld in my reply to you yesterday, i.e. Clem Tunnel, Go Between Bridge etc, which are definitely shown on the C2 dled from here, but there's no Airport Link on the disc. That's 'coz it's not in the list. Therefore it could not have been in V17. The definitive proof however in is Terry's file comparison of the 2 C1 discs:

    (1) Look at his [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] of the two 'C1' discs, his genuine V17 and the 'fake V18' disc from this thread. No difference except the for date of the VERSION.txt file. Identical files and dates otherwise.

    (2) The [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] of Terry's 'known genuine' C1 V17 and the 'assumed genuine' C2 V18 doesn't help like the above one does because a lot of files are different (they're for different satnav systems), but the ALLDATA.KWI file has more data in it thereby indicating more roads if Terry is right about the alldata file being the roads database, and that seems logical being as it's the biggest single kiwi file.

    On balance, C2 is the genuine V18 simply because it has the road listed in the update list and C1 hasn't got them so combine that with the evidence of the first comparison means it's just a tricked up V17... strange how some people get their kicks, isn't it?
