If you got C1 as you said here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], maybe give him a hearty slap on the back (while he's swallowing his lunch/beer/tongue/pride) and say "Ha ha, very funny you hilarious Pr**k! Now give me the real V18 C1 or I'll let your Boss know how you get your jollys". Umm, maybe tone that down just a tad.

    Anyway, good on ya Scherms... whether V17 or V18, its still a great posting.

    It seems you have found a Sensis search bug, manorsessions. If you type 'Riversdale' in full, all you get in the list for Victoria is 'Riversdale Avenue'. If you type just 'Rivers' and press 'list', it shows heaps of options including the elusive Riversdale Road. I put V15 back in and it was the same for it too. A quite enduring bug, hard to believe that nobody has brought it to the attention of Sensis.

    Same here, compared v17 and v18c1 is indentical with only few files has different dates, but the size all the same. Structure the same 25 files. But v18 c2 is only 20 files and it does not work in Lexus RX.
    Anyway thanks for the effort guys to put those files. Good job. People always can record 2 dvd's and try which one is compatible with their car.

    Steel waiting for someone to upload v18c2 with all the 25 file structure that will work in Lexus.

    @ole3ik
    I don't have C1 to compare with my working C2, but i'm assuming you are referring to the 20 KWI files in C2 therefore there must be 25 KWI's in C1? If that's what you mean, I think you will be waiting a while for C2 with 25 KWI files. If C2 doesn't work in your Lexus, C1 should regardless of whether it's actually V17 or V18. It's gotta use one or the other, C1 or C2:

    That's confirmed. The files are identical apart from the altered version number.

    C2 will not load in my Toyota Prius but C1 (V17) works OK, so I'll have a look at the differences between C1 and C2.
    Maybe we can put the latest C2 files (maps) into a working C1 disk.

    I recall that some time ago someone made a disk for a Prius that had old software files but the latest map files so he could still have the 'data entry while moving' mode that had been removed in later versions. I'll have to dig around the archives, but I think all that was required was to replace the ALLDATA.KWI file.

    yeah, definitely not the real C1 v18... it's definitely V17.

    Anyone got the real C1 V18?

    These are the basic facts as everybody is no doubt aware by earlier posts:

    1. The 'V18 C1' is in fact just V17 with an altered Version file.
    3. C1 discs (whether V17 or V18 or whatever other version) will not work in a satnav designed/programmed for C2.
    3. Conversely, C2 discs will not work in C1 systems.

    If the KWI files from C2 will work in C1, or vice versa, I'll be surprised but why not try to swap them and report back?

    Here is the first level compare of C1(V17) to C2.
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    It is interesting that C2 has a lot of files that are older than those on C1.
    Anyone got any ideas what the various .KWI files do?

    @Terry Dactil
    They are KIWI format files which hold all the map data including POIs etc etc. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Sorry, I didn't express myself very clearly. I was asking about what function each of the *.kwi files had.
    Anyway, I found this, and although old, was what I was after.
    VERSION.TXT - The version of the data on this DVD (ver.04.2 for a DENSO NAV 4.2 DVD)
    ALLDATA.KWI - A file that represents all of the KIWI MAP data (I think). - This is the biggest file on the root of the filesystem at 2.8G
    COVERAGE.TXT - Text file listing all files in the COVERAGE/ directory
    COVERAGE/ - Directory full of BMP images showing the coverage area of this DVD as a raster image. This would be the easiest thing to hack with your own graphics.
    INDEXDAT.KWI - Lists the IDX/ directory files.
    IDX/ - Directory full if Index files. My guess is for searching and/or quick access for names/addresses/phonenumbers etc, as that is what they appear to contain. - This is the biggest directory on the DVD (5G)
    METADATA.KWI - Metadata. Contains this string:
    LANG::=US English,UK English,German,French,Spanish,Italian,Dutch,Swedis h,Danish ; CHCD ::=ISO 8859-1 ; COOR::=WGS84 ;
    SPEC.KWI - Specification file. Contains this string:
    SUPERMETA::=AFUS:2.47, AGUS:2.47 ;
    LOADING.KWI - Loading Module Management File. - At 520M, including strings like “/HDD/slot1/passwd.osg”, the first thing that I think of when I see this file is “this is the code that the NAV computer boots”. - “I Agree” is in this file. Removing that initial nag screen may be as simple as a binary patch to this file! Woo!
    DICVCE56.KWI - From the strings, it looks like a group list of Points of Interest (not the actual points, just the general groups). This is a small file.
    VIRTUAL0.DAT VIRTUAL1.DAT - No idea what these are for. They appear to be full of NULLs.
    During the search I discovered two things that seem important
    • Don't stuff around with LOADING.KWI. It affects the operating system and you could really screw things up!
    • ALLDATA.KWI contains the maps, so that and an index file is probably all that is needed to update the maps
