Default Step by step setup TomTom7 with UK and Thailand map on aPocket PC with Windows mobile ver 6.1

Just like some of you, I spent ages looking for ways to do this. Then I sat down and wrote the procedure I used so that it might de-mistify it for some of you guys. Hope it helps.

This is how I did it.
You may have to do a bit of searching for the software though. Use Google.

Download and extract [qvga.7.917.9186.blue_NO.CAB] to your PC desktop. There should be three folders inside this called [Navigator], [TomTom] and [Windows]

Download and extract [EasyActivator5_v0.57.21] to your PC desktop. This utility will patch the map later.

Download and extract the correct map you require AND MOST IMPORTANTLY Download the correct Meta.txt file for the map. (These meta files are unique to each map and will not work with other versions or other maps. You will need this file later so make a note of where on your PC you are saving it.

Copy the whole folder [qvga.7.917.9186.blue_NO.CAB] including its contents, from your PC to your SD card.
In my case I had the phone connected through USB cable to my PC with 'microsoft active sync 4.5' running. I then navigated to the root of the SD card on the phone and pasted the folder there. Remember this location because this is where your maps will go later.

Now using explore on your phone (NOT THE PC), find the folder you just copied to your SD card, and within that folder, go to the folder called [Navigator]. Inside here is a file called (TomTom Navigator). Click on this to install the navigation software only to your phone.

When completed successfuly, the process above will have generated a file called (ttnavigator) in the root of your SD card. (Using the PC this time) copy the file (ttnavigator) from your SD card and paste it onto your desktop. Once transfered to your desktop you will see that it will have the extension .BIF (ttnavigator.bif) We will need this later.

This next part describes how to put a working map onto the root of your SD card.

I did this with (United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-116) and (Thailand 830_2332) and it worked a treat. I'm sure you could do it with other maps of your choice that should work with TT7.

In this example, Download one of the above maps to your desktop pc. Extract or unzip accordingly until you have ONLY the Map folder (United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-116) with its contents inside.
Copy and paste the (ttnavigator.bif) file you saved earlier, and the (Meta.txt file)into the map folder, (Not essential but it keeps things tidy)

Now you must run the [EasyActivator5_v0.57.21] software.

Click on the button to select (Use TT8_Keygen.exe)

Then click on the button (Browse for *.bif File) and find the ttnavigator.bif file you saved in the Map folder earlier. If successful, a device ID will now appear inside a green box.

Now click on the big button (Select Map Folder) A new window will appear and you must find the main folder (on your PC desktop) containing the Map details and click on it. Then click on OK. You will notice more parts of the easyActivator5_v0.57.21 program going green.

Now you must click on the small button labeled (Browse) This will open a new window on your desktop with a default txt file called Meta showing inside the window. Every Map needs its own Meta file, so this default one may not be correct for you. Istead, find the Meta.txt file you saved in the Map folder earlier and click on it.

Now finaly, go back to the EasyActivator5_v0.57.21 program and click on (Generate the *.meta.dct file) button. If successful you will get a box appear where you can click on OK. Map is now patched.
You can confirm this becase a new file with the extension .DCT will have been generated and placed into the map folder on your PC. You can now select EXIT from the EasyActivator5_v0.57.21 program.

All that is left to do now is to copy and paste the COMPLETED patched Map folder to the root of the SD card and run the navigator application on your windows mobile phone, and then select the map from within the application.

Like I said earlier, the UK map (maybe available on this forum) and the Thailand map (available here ================== [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] =================== run perfectly on my device after following the above instructions.

    Thank you.

Most cool. But perhaps you could answer a couple of questions for a noob to this forum

When you say download this and that, where do you down them from? This site or through torrents perhaps?

What version of TomTom and especially the maps are you referring to? I notice you mentioned TT7, but then later you mentioned keygen TT8. Slightly confused.

Lastly with TT7 installed is it possible to use part of this process in order to install v8 maps?

I presently have a HTC TytnII running Windows Mobile 6.1 and TomTom 7 with TT version 7 maps. I have seen that version 8 maps are available and am most specifically interested in whether I can get these to work with TT7

    All the Megaupload are dead.
Does anyone have: "Download and extract [qvga.7.917.9186.blue_NO.CAB] to your PC desktop. There should be three folders inside this called [Navigator], [TomTom] and [Windows]"
If possible both QVGA and VGA, and if you have also without Bluetooth.
