Hi,
ok so you don't need tomtom home to update QuickGPSFix using this tool. But how to get automatic updates or how to do it manually from a tomtom device? I have Go 720.
If you know (quite correctly) that this is just a False-Positive then why not just ignore it? Quite a few progs around here & other areas report False-Positives but that's all they are.
Please do not post "thanks" but use the "reputation" star(*) bottom/left or "like" bottom/left buttonsS i m p l e s
PS If you find any dead links on MY posts please pm me & I'll try to fix/reload
I agree with biggerdave.
I find Windows 10 and Windows Security a real pain in the backside.
It flags to much and is always alerting me even with programs I have been using for years.
You can add them to a list to be bypassed.
QuickGPSFix for the Global Locate and SiRFStar-III chipset v4.76 (small improvements)
OS: Windows W7/W8/W10 (32/64-bit)
What to do . . . .
------------------
1) Copy "QuickGPSFix" to the folder ".\ephem" on your TomTom.
2) Run "QuickGPSFix" to update both files "lto.dat" and "packedephemeris.ee"
*) For a quick GPS fix and fix the WNRO-bug run "QuickGPSFix" every 5-7 days.
!) Some anti-virus software report a false positive, no worry. (like Symantec)

Is there a way to update quickgpsfix within an android environment? On the road I don't have access to a PC. Been looking at wine - a windows environment that runs as an app but can't seem to connect to TomTom via USB connection. Suggestions? The 1-2 hours waiting for a GPS fix each day is growing thin fast.
I've tried to download files from several different posts to get the latest Quick GPSfix. Can anyone tell me why NORTON deletes the files immediately before I can unpack and place on the tomtom device Running windows 10
Thanks

Avast also delete file from post #35...
can I ask a stupid question?
is this all rubbish? I have a GPS dongle that goes in my laptop, it finds every satellite the millisecond its powered up?
all my cars with inbuild Nav have always immediately found the satellites
but tomtom like to confuses themselves deliberately, and you can be fine one minute, go in a paper shop the next and wait 40 minutes for satellite lock. Or just CRASH it out turn it back on and magically its just working !!!
on a nokia phones (2008 to 2012 era) if you turn off GPS assist its just a built in 20 minutes time delay in the software, its not actually looking. Just turn the phone on as you get off the plane and turn on maps. By the time you get to the hire car it always works straight away. It never saw a satellite on the way its just software mumbo jumbo to try and encourage spying app data transmission.
