Question Map Editions and Junction View

If I use TomTom maps, it shows junction view for every highway exit, but with HERE maps and its .FJW, it shows a lot less. Exits are more detailed yes, but more often than not it doesn't show one. Is there a way to somehow merge junction views so it shows more often?

Have you tried using TomTom's .fjw/.fjv with HERE map .fbl? As far as I know you can't "merged" (or used) multiple junction view data.

There is no .fjw or .fjv available with TomTom maps. In folder I have only .fbl .fpa .fsp and .ftr. I find it weird that it doesn't show more junction views, because I simulated the same highway exit on Garmin, and it showed junction view exit perfectly. When HERE shows me a junction view, it is a beautiful vector graphic, but it seems like it shows only for a very few junctions/exits. On the other hand, when I use TomTom maps, it shows junction view for every exit, but it is very basic/ugly. Just an arrow basically. Is this a compromise I have to make?

You initially said "If I use TomTom maps, it shows junction view for every highway exit" Which indicates that you must use .fjw/.fjv It is NOT possible to see junction view without .fjw/.fjv Post screenshot of your TomTom junction view. Just arrows is NOT junction view, it's lane guidance. Lane guidance is part of map so TomTom and HERE could show differently*. The newer vector graphics comes from .fjw
Garmin is NOT NNG, they don't make nor use same data.

    * TomTom map data is from formally TeleAtlas while HERE map data is from formally Navteq

Yes I did a mistake by confusing HERE and NNG. I thought that if HERE is making mapping data, it will also provide PhotoReal junction view like Garmin, but looks like NNG is providing PhotoReal for their iGo devices.

Back to the point. This is how exit looks like when I use TomTom maps (I don't have any .fjv or .fjw file in map folder because it was not included):
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

And this is how it looks when I use HERE maps with HERE .fjw installed:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I simulated the same exits for both versions, and there is a big difference. Those vector graphics that NNG uses for HERE maps are insane. I like them a lot better than Garmin PhotoReal. The problem is that HERE shows only a handful of junctions, while TomTom, albeit very basic and ugly, shows all of them.

Files that I used in folder "map" with TomTom maps were: .fbl and .fpa
Files that I used in folder "map" with HERE maps were: .fbl .fpa .fda and .fjw

Ok, that is interesting. One more check, for each TomTom and HERE, could you go under About->Content and tell me if you see
"Junction View" and/or "Junction View NG" Make sure you click on each to see if they are not red*
My gut feeling tell me TomTom has basic junction view data as part of the map and HERE is using better junction view from .fjw

    * red indicate invalid license and not used

With TomTom, I see only "Junction View" under Content. With HERE, I see "Junction View" and then under that I also see "Junction View NG".

Then I was right with my statement: "My gut feeling tell me TomTom has basic junction view data as part of the map and HERE is using better junction view from .fjw" So can you do this?

    Test 1:
Use TomTom map .fbl but also use HERE junction view .fjw and see if the "better" junction views are showing. Low probability that this will work since junction view data are pretty much tied to a map structure; but who knows, you might get lucky.

    Test 2:
Use HERE map .fbl but do NOT use HERE junction view .fjw (don't copy file over). See if you're ONLY seeing the "simple" junction views.

In both cases, verify what you see under About->Content

When I used TomTom map with HERE .fjw folder, it was the same as before. Showed all exits but they were basic. Under Content, I had "Junction View NG" but it was grayed out and said something was missing/went wrong.

When I used HERE map but without .fjw, I see only the basic junction view, like on TomTom, but same as before, it didn't show all exits. With .fjw I at least get PhotoReal. So even when I don't use .fjw with HERE maps, it still doesn't show all highway exits, but when it does show them, they are basic ones like on TomTom.

I am using HERE 2016 Q4 maps, which I think are the latest at the moment for iGO, correct? When I go under Content and "Junction View NG", when I use .fjw with HERE, it says this: "2016 HERE, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [161201]. I guess that NNG is working with HERE on these junction views. When new version of HERE maps comes out for iGO, 2017 I suppose, they will probably add more highway exits.

Ok, everything makes sense now. Maps comes with "basic" junction views (under About->Content it showed as "Junction View")
If a map maker choose to create their own junction view .fjw/.fjv then that will get shown (under About->Content it showed as "Junction View NG")
You can not use .fjw/.fjv of one map vendor on another, it will showed "grayed out" and not red because file can't be used but license allowed.
