May be should start a crowd-funded project. People chip in some $$$ and get a good hacker to hack this NC10/11/12 :D

I don't think it's anything to do with lack of funding as we have some serious players around and the vast majority have been trying since 2010 to hack these with no success.
Most (or our) hackers do it "because they can", not for the money.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that idea at all but for all those with still working NAV2 devices why waste money when you can get free maps from here anyway? (plus a second hand/used NAV2 device is always going to be cherper than even the most basic new model with lifetime maps etc)

Old Tomtom's has to pick-up carefully on 2nd hand buy. I run into a bad connector and battey problems. These old PND's has small screens, slow CPU's, and GPS lock, no capacitive 'pinching' screen zoom ect. I like the new series with 6 inch screen and as a backup my Go 530 and GO Android app :-)

well i had a problem with newer device, a friend ask me to change map to our country-region and if i had older device, i would change it easily as pie, but this new device did come with lifetime map of a wrong region8central europe), and i even couldn't find link in program to purchase a different map, only to change zone? wtfk?. at least tomtom home did offer you to by maps, my-drive -nothing
so there is one reason why you shouldn't by newer device even if it has lifetime maps. what if they are networking for you?

IIm not a fan of the newest go 500/600 501/601 etc yes the screens are great but the menu system has gone backwards imo. what could be done with a couple of button presses on the older models you have to go into various menus to do the same and thats even if the option still exists which a lot dont.
