    Default Best TomTom to get?

I currently have a TT Go530 and regularly update it (maps, navcore, postcodes etc) but now i feel i should buy a new one. Dont know if any of the newer ones have any more benefical features that i would use (i dont connect to my phone/bluetooth etc)

    Which TT would you get?

    Always the most expensive device
I want none of the current "lifetime" devices, because only TomTom determine "lifetime", not the user. And personally pois with warning sound are impossible. But this my very personally sight.

    Completely agree .............well done/wrote mate!
Vintage :D is still the best, especially if a 720 920 TT "old school"

I would say buy a 540 or 550 (both have Live Traffic) as these x40/x50's are the last models you can "play with" but if you'd rather have some new-fangled TT then have a look here:- [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Do you have to connect your phone with the 540/550 to get the live traffic or pay a subscription? Is the 1000/1005 similar also?

Integrated GSM, no phone needed. Look here:

"Ultimately though, there's nothing here to tempt Go x30 or x40 Live owners to upgrade (especially considering the missing features), but the fact remains that the Go 550 Live is one of the best satnavs you can buy, and itís slightly cheaper than the Go 540 was originally."

With 1000/1005 you can't "play with" - only MyDrive access!
