Default HELP: Via 220 does not recognize new maps

    Hi all,
I purchased a second hand VIA 220, connected to MyDrive and it connected (knows serial number, etc) and received an email with the following text

"You have successfully associated and activated your Map or Service on your device. You can now start to use these.

However, it does not want to update the map. It does not know there is a new map. Current map version is 885 (which is around 2012). My understanding is that VIA 220 provides Lifetime Map Update (I think this device has not reached its lifetime yet in Australia). The seller said he bought it within Australia back in 2013.

It did update Quickfixgps but not the map.
Can somebody give me some pointers as why? Anything I can do to make it update the map?

    Thanks in advance.

Just to update the progress I made on this matter. Hopefully it is useful for other people.

I rang customer support. After checking the serial number they told me the device was registered/sold in in 2011 - hence prior to the offering lifetime free map (which was started in Oct 2012). As a good gesture, they gave me single map update (because I own multiple tomtom devices).

So that is the answer, if you bought your tomtom prior to Oc 2012 then you are not qualified for lifetime free map.

    Hope this helps others.
