Tomtom perfectly within the law in France, indicating danger zones (500m , 2km or 4km) following speeds for fixed radars and warning points on the locations of mobile cameras.
They are therefore many areas of danger within the meaning of the law and not of radar detectors or indicators, since France any fixed radar is a danger zone listed on the government website .
It is useless to extract a line of text out of context , which distorts the meaning . Legal texts are much more complex and must be read and understood in their entirety.
Remember, collecting data out of clear legal framework is also prohibited. Therefore, Tomtom (and other brands) would be in breach of legislation , which is not the case . Tomtom go mobile service is suitable , useful and legal in France .
Read the manual to Go Mobile , or call customer service before asserting anything too quickly .

Maybe it is French law, but this dubious service (500m is ok, but 4 km ???) works online only, what the questioner (#65) not want. With an supplementary app like Blitzer.de PLUS für Android you get stationary speed cameras worldwide also offline: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
If you want not pay 4,99 €, use amazon underground (or google) : [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

No dubious service but an early warning. Did you at least used this service in France?
With a little thought , 4km is 2km before and 2km after (the law), to the relevant speed of 110 or 130km , it is one minute before , which is quite suitable to not be surprised by a flash.
Your application does not comply with the law in France , the risks are great and tax very expensive.
Once again, I know what I'm talking about the French law and the use of this service in France.

I don't doubt your knowledge about the french law, but this online-service doesn't help me and other (#65), because i don't use online-services abroad.
Not comply with French law? In Germany too - my risk. My co-driver deletes the app faster than police can stop me
Joking aside: in an unfamiliar area you should always drive sensibly and and not rely on an app or "service".

On the german page (appendix =de) you can read also this:
"Fragen um die Gesetzmäßigkeit von Diensten, die vor Radarkameras warnen, sind noch nicht restlos geklärt. Sie können jederzeit deaktiviert werden. Siehe http://goo.gl/FgubC8"

"Questions about the legality of services that warn of speed cameras are not yet fully clarified. You can always disable this. Look at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]"
