I can't prove nor disprove this - device was not mine, and I was short of time installing a bundle of navi-apps. iGO, TT-1.4, OZI - all went well at once. The only prob was with G0-Trafic. Owner was not principal about last one, so i tried it just for my own curiosity...
Just had no time for 1.7/1.8.1 experiments. May be this would do also - don't know.

I have this "no connection to TT server" too, but only with the genuine APK 1.7...1.8.1 (tested today)...1.9...1.10 (not tested in the present). When you will install only the "free/test"-version, you need now the Google app store. This must be really new since ? days. But if you make the change from this "not working" genuine app after de-install to the cracked v1.10, you have the conection and can download the map(s) and voices and the installed cracked app working like a charm like all the time before.
    Tested today...

If you don't wish to connect your phone or tablet to the app store, visit the app store on your pc and get the link for the tomtom app, then visit this page and enter the link and it will generate the download for you. I have used this for a while now and it still works for the tomtom app today, I just tried.

pietpisvlek & Alfred_ML. Thanks for your replies. I guessed as much but disappointed that TT didn't consider an expanded POI feature. I would have also like a choice map colour schemes, but that is not there either!

    Thanks again

TT standardized the colour-schemes (settings > appearance > display) not only for the app, but for the various devices as well.
Personally I'm not too happy with these colours, especially when out in the sun like on a motorbike.
Complained about that with the TT support desk.
So if more people complain, who knows

BTW: English is not the standard language in my app, so "settings > appearance > display" might come out slightly different on yours.

Strange....I've always night colors even in the daytime.
After reinstalling everything is ok and after a few days I get night colors again.
What could be the reason for this ?

Really always or only when you don't have a GPS signal?

I think day&night is not controlled by the standard clock in your Smartphone, but by the time information sent by GPS-satelites ... so imho the day/night colors should be correct once there is GPS reception...

I observed the same behaviour with the older pre-GO versions (e.g. v1.4)....
