Which cache? Is there another cache, except the app's cache... which you cannot delete, because you uninstalled the app in step 1)... ?!?

I think : step 3 at first(Appmanager), than step one......and than step 2 if the folder(s) still exits after Uninstall

That's exactly what I am usually doing for a 'clean uninstall'...

A tip for those of you that have several 'similar' rooted phones... you can clone TomTom Go from Phone1 to the others... :

o do a Titanium Backup of TomTomGo on Phone1

o copy the Titanium TomTomGo files accordingly to the other phone(s): Filenames starting with com.tomtom.gplay.navapp*

o copy the folder \Android\data\com.tomtom.gplay.navapp accordingly to the other phone(s)

o restore TomTomGo via Titanium Backup on the other phone(s)

When ever I do an uninstall there are still things left behind.
It might be redundant but I use a program called AppMgr Pro III.
I run it just to make sure everything is cleared out no matter what it is.
There are many cleaner apps out there that do the same.
But this is the one I use.

Just like checking to see that this is not there anymore \Android\data\com.tomtom.gplay.navapp
Lots of times it is still there and is missed by user's.

    I check and recheck always.

I have installed this on many phone and tablets for users.
It has worked the first time.

When I have some one come over to my house I ask them what did you do.
Every time each use has missed one thing or another.
With the answer I did not know you need to do that.

Now I can not tell what any users is doing or not doing on the forum.

But this is one of the easiest app to install and work the first time.

Now as to why some users can not download a map they pick I can not answer that.
When most do not have a problem at all.
They even do not like when they update to a newer version of the app they have re download the map again.

So something is not working with how the app is installed or you do not have a good data connection or good home wifi connect.
Or you are trying to use Free Hotspot to download and they are very slow if not having restrictions on them.

The only thing you can try is a different GPS app.
If that works and you can download a map then you need to go back over how you are installing this app.

So you have a problem with both 1.8.1 and 1.9.....
But are you trying this with an original or a patched app to download a map????
You talk about an original 1.8.1?????

    Or do you mean v1.8.2????

Not every connection error should be treated as installation error!

My GO Mobile TomTom has experienced an error that could not view and download other maps. It appeared the following message: "Unable to display maps Check your internet connection and try again.". I even think to install another map had to uninstall the current. Error!

Uninstalled to pack up and could not install. The GO Mobile TomTom screen was frozen on the home screen with the following message: "Can not connect to application TomTom Check the Internet connection on your phone.".

Before thousands of dozens of attempts, I began to realize that it could not be installation error. That's when I began to realize that the error was the cell. I looked in the system any folder you'd preventing the connection.

The following solution for problems of any connection error

Delete hosts file on your device. For this I used the Root Explorer application and the path to delete this file system is / etc / hosts. Delete this file hosts
    Possible cause of the problem:
    - IP in the 'hosts' file may be incorrect which causes conflict in redirection to Google.

After that, turn on the lucky patcher application and the bottom of the app (footer), click tool box / install google play moderate store / Install (you will see a list, take the latest Google Play Store, in my case more recent was the version 6.3.15).

Ready and resolved the connection error problem

    greetings

    Wbjiu
